Thread: Alien Vs Predator - News Update Thread + New Photos + New Trailer

  1. Hmm...sounds like the action will still be there but we wont see anyone explode/shot/cut/bleed/swear/eaten/melted. Pretty stupid for a movie with the title Alien vs Predator.

Seattle Times interview with Lance Henrickson.

Mostly about Millennium coming on DVD but still some AVP talk (plus Terminator!). Worth the click just to hear his voice in your head...

  4. Awesome !!! Thank you for the interview link. I always like to read about Lance answering questions

As for the movie, Fuck Anderson if its true. I was defending him from alot of haters, but if he actually did it with with AVP - then Fuck Him.

  5. There was a lot of pushing to get this movie a PG-13 rating in order to max the attendence as much as possible (R gets the under 18 crowd banned), but considering how silly reasons for ratings are these days, we still might have the gore in there.

But that's pretty harsh to shoot out at people for what you haven't seen yet.
"Your soul better belong to Jesus, mmm-mmmmm..... cause your ass belongs to me!"

  6. But it's stupid because we're talking about and Alien and Predator movie. They were always horror movies and they should deliver what the fans of each franchise want and expect (namley people dieing on camera). And an R rating hardly "bans" anyone younger than 17 from seeing it.

I understand the (monetary) motivation for getting a PG13 rating. What I don't get is why that's applicable to this movie. Gen X cares about AVP. Gen Y doesn't (I work w/HS kids and too few have even seen Aliens, Predator or Alien).

Also, considering this movie was never a big-budget, be-all, end-all closing chapter to the Aliens/Predator multiverse, I'm not going to let my expectations get out of control. Now, a $200 million budget w/Arnie, Michael Biehn, Cameron and McTiernan involved? That I'd get excited about.

As it stands, I'll take anything entertaining. Say, as good as the original Resident Evil movie. Nothing great but not craptacular.

I agree with Rumpy. All the films in both seriese were R, which is understandable, when films involve man eating/killing/hunting creatures, one species of which uses humans and animals as hosts for their young. That pretty much involves quite a bit of the scenes of gore and graphic violence, and with PG13 rating that AVP supposedly got, I am sure those scenes would be cut out, watered down, or the lower rating was originally planned, not even included.

I miss more simpler and less PC bullshit filled 80s, when action and horror were what they supposed to be, hard hitting, violent, gritty and graphic.

Nowdays, its all about PG13 crowd that became to most important movie going demographic, that Hollywood execs are thinking about, and greed for more audience dollars, leads to more PG13, watered down bullshit. There were already bunch of movies that suffered from this this year: King Arthur, which was filmed as battle filled, R rated film film, and was cut down to PG13 audience friendly rating, and lost not only battle violence that made the action scenes to look like jokes, but also bits of the storyline. Chronicles of Riddick was another example. From R rated Pitch Black to more kid friendly Riddick, scenes were left on the cutting floor.

Sure, R rated movies will have more limited audience, but like FvsJ showed last year, it can still make money. FvsJ was a moderate hit, and brought enough money to warrant the sequel.

Now I am afraid that New Line will decide to do a make over on Blade 3, to make it a kid friendly fare as well. Same goes for Resident Evil Appocalypse, which already seems to be more of action movie than horror, and with Anderson involvment on both, it might end up suffering the fate of AVP

  9. Dreamcast

Pretty sure Chronicles of Riddick is R.

    (ADDED)
    Nope. PG13. Game = R tho.

  10. Was the first RE movie R? If it was it shouldn't have been. I think Michelle Rodreigez (sp!) said "fuck" twice so it made it R. We need to get back to the days when a movie got an R rating, it actually meant something.

Maybe this is just a shitty trend to make "UNRATED!" DVD's to sell more copies. Who wants to see the action and gore in a action/horror movie in the theatre when you can get it all as a bonus feature on the home edition 6 months later. Sucks to that.

That said, I still want to see this. Not as much though.
