ooo the iron giant. awesome movie, shit dvd.
i'd also pick up goodfellas, as i still haven't seen the film. yes, i live in a hole.
IGN posted this list...thought it might interest some of you guys.

I think Despair and I would be the only ones interested in the Event Horizon SE...Batman, Batman Returns: In prep now, to be released at the same time as the Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale film Batman Begins next year.
GoodFellas: Special Edition: September, two-disc edition, De Niro and Scorsese are reportedly heavily involved in it.
The Iron Giant: SE: Held until the November release of Brad Bird's Pixar flick The Incredibles.
Duel: No word, possibly released this year.
Ed Wood SE: Delayed from February, reportedly coming in October.
Office Space SE: It's been widely reported that Mike Judge and Fox are playing high/low money games and neither will budge. So until they work out financial terms, this goes nowhere.
Orgazmo SE: Is being worked on, no release date.
Robin Hood: Men in Tights: An SE is reportedly planned, but no word beyond that.
South Park: BL&U SE: Paramount is working on a new special edition but there is no release date.
Blade Runner SE: It's in the works, but it's a rather delicate legal situation so at this point, silence is actually golden and good for the process.
The Game SE: Was being worked on, no word.
True Lies: SE: Delayed first due to 9/11 and now Cameron's and Schwarzenegger's availability.
The Shawshank Redemption SE: Planned for this fall.
Newsradio - There's a legal/rights conflict, so no word.
Beetlejuice SE: In the works, all dependent on Tim Burton's availability.
The African Queen: Being restored, possibly by Lowry.
Event Horizon SE: It's happening in R2, but no word here.
Top Gun SE: Coming in late '04 or (more likely) early '05.
THX-1138: 2-Disc SE in September, restored by Lowry, Lucas pulled a Star Wars and fiddled with the effects shots.
Raising Arizona SE Not on the radar.
Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place: Spelling is reportedly waiting to see how Charlie's Angels sells, and there are musical rights issues with 90210 as it had a lot of musical guests.
The New Adventures of Lois and Clark: In discussions.
Crimson Tide SE and Enemy of the State SE: Both are Tony Scott titles that were in production but delayed, they might come with next Tony Scott movie, either Man On Fire or Emma's War, due next year. Neither is expected to be elaborate, just anamorphic transfers and a few extras.
Charmed: No word.
Hamlet (Brannagh's four-hour version): Rights problems, lawyers are working it out.
Space: Above and Beyond: Work is beginning on it.
Flash Gordon: No word but there is a nice R2 SE.
King Kong - Being worked on, delayed from last year, now delayed until the Peter Jackson version comes out.
The Jazz Singer: Being restored.
The Wonder Years: Hung up over music rights and royalties.
Casino - Reportedly being worked on, nothing definite.
A Fistful of Dollars and A Few Dollars More: There's talk, it will eventually happen. Probably depends on how well the Collector's Edition of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly sells.
The Abyss - Been talked about, nothing planned.
The Frighteners: The DVD sucks but the laserdisc version is excellent. Eventually all Jackson films will be revisited with special editions, but Peter is a busy man these days.
The Untouchables: Coming in the fall.
Mean Streets: This year.
Also happy to hear about Batman, Goodfellas and the possible True Lies SE. A Cameron/Schwarzenegger commentary track would rock. The Untouchables was a great movie too, once you got past the fact that all these people were fighting and dying for something as stupid as enforcing prohibition.

I've been waiting, patiently, for that damn Blade Runner set. Ridley Scott does a great job with his SEs, and cares a lot about the DVD medium, so I'm sure it'll work out. I haven't bought any version on DVD yet because this is coming. Supposedly it's going to have three versions of the film. Nice.
Dammit, when the hell are we getting the Predator SE? It's been out in the UK for years. I won't buy the R1 version because it's crap. Maybe we'll get lucky when AvsP comes out.....
What would be added to The Abyss? It's already got a couple great versions on DVD.
I'd dig a SE of The Game.

This is true, since you have never seen Tombstone, among others.Originally Posted by epmode

"Fiends! Animals! Bastards!"
The Abyss? That movie already had a special edition.
I agree with Johnpv here. I can give some of these a pass - Goodfellas was a shit DVD but it was one of the earlier ones, but still this is exploitation. But people keep buying em so...
Oh and I never bought the Goodfellas DVD, Ive been waiting for a good version all these years.
I thought there were 20 or 30 different special editions already. I wasn't aware anyone gave enough of a shit about that movie to want yet another.Originally Posted by diffusionx
Can't blame you. The only DVD out is indeed shit. No extras, shit transfer, and you had to flip the goddamn disc in the middle of the movie.Oh and I never bought the Goodfellas DVD, Ive been waiting for a good version all these years.
