I thought that was pretty funny.Originally Posted by Grave
I didn't really give a shit about the "4th wall" stuff Mzo mentioned either, sure it's gimmicky but it was used pretty well for it's time when no other game did it. It made use of the package and the controller in cool ways and I still find it admirable in Twin Snakes.
StarTropics brought the letter your uncle sends you to start off the game attached to the manual. During the game, you find out you have to wet it to see the password to start the sub. That was 1000x better than "look at the back of the case," which is fucking dumb.Originally Posted by Will

Especially in my case, because I rented the game. Good thing there was gamefaqs! DiffX just hated MGS3 because he couldn't keep up with the controls.Originally Posted by Mzo

MGS3 controlled like ass when I played the demo. Maybe I'll finally take the plastic off the full game this weekend =X

This is exactly what killed Metal Gear for me- and I hate to admit that it affectsOriginally Posted by Mzo
my opinion of the games, but how Kojima acts like the Madonna of gaming while still capitalizing on this kind of shit. Especially when Metal Gear is one of the games that really does have the ability to maturely explore complex social issues.

Heh. Most people think that was something Kojima merely made up for Metal Gear Solid, but in reality the "look behind the package" puzzle was one of the many things he recycled from the MSX games (in Metal Gear 2, you needed to look behind the game's box in order to learn Campbell's second frequency).Originally Posted by Mzo
I think you just need to look past this. These are not the geat moments in Metal Gear history anyway. He has a mature sense of humour and puts it in his games. Better this than he bacome another Itigaki and make crap games based to sell only off sexy girls and 2nd grade humour.Originally Posted by Vasteel
