Man, I hope this patch brings Special Forces up to speed. Iron Gator lags like a bitch for me! Can't wait to try the new patch out.
What would you guys like to see changed?

Iron gator runs at 2 fps on my machine, hah. but for reason i still find the map fun. I hope they fix it. That red name bug needs fixed bad. The G3 gun noise getting stuck needs fixed. Ill take some AA strengthening. The mini map zooming when i didnt want it to needs fixed.
Take out teamkills for idiots on your own team running over your mines. I 100% love the engineer class - but its very tough to score well with teamkills from the mines. They took out teamkills from your commander's artillary they should do the same to the engie's mines.
Take out the ability to blow up mines with an explosive - like it was pre-patch. Only an engineer should be able to remove the mines. This would enhance teamplay, and have people playing as engies more often and would make them that much more useful.
Change the red X/skull color of mines and C4 so people on your team can tell the difference between the 2. This would cut down on the amount of teamkills, cause people wouldnt blindly think it was C4 they were driving over.
Oh yea the engineer class needs fixed.
All that said BF2 is the best online FPS since TeamFortressClassic - and i cant stop playing it some 6 months later.

Battlefield 2 Booster Packs and Patch Update
Community Bulletin – January 11, 2005
Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to all of you.
Today we have some big announcements that we’re excited to share with you! First of all, news about 2 new booster packs that will expand the battlefields of Battlefield 2: Battlefield 2: Euro Force and Battlefield 2: Armored Fury.
Euro Force will be released on February 8th and sees the introduction of the all-new European Army in 3 new maps. Each Euro soldier will come equipped with a new primary weapon, from the FNP90 to the Benelli Tactical Shotgun. There will also be 4 new vehicles, including the (in)famous Eurofighter.
The 3 maps are "Operation Smoke Screen", "The Great Wall of China and "Taraba Quarry". Click here to view screenshots from Battlefield 2: Euro Force.
Armored Fury will be released on March 28th and the focus is on large mechanized battles, harking back to the El Alamein style maps on BF1942. There will be 3 new maps – "Midnight Sun", "Operation Harvest" and "Operation Road Rage" – but also 2 new vehicle classes. Attack Jets and Recon Helicopters, which can spot nearby enemy units, will make their debut.
Both packs will be available exclusively online at www.downloader.ea.com at £5.99.
As well as these booster packs, we are of course still utterly devoted to providing updates to Battlefield 2. We can’t say it enough; thank you all for your support and dedication! Update 1.2 is currently undergoing public beta testing and will be released very soon. As with the first list, this second list includes confirmed fixes only:
- Server search filters now work properly
- All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the "G" key.
- Mines can no longer be destroyed with other explosives
- Flash bang effect radius decreased
- Added unlocks for Sniper and AT kits
- Fixed a bug in terrain rendering with night vision, whereby terrain was still dark in dark areas.
- Fixed a bug whereby mods that are not bf2 or not xpack permutate shaders every time a level is loaded.
- Fixed a bug whereby non-xpack mods cannot use xpack shaders.
- Fixed bug in TV guided missiles of Havoc helicopter
- Bug in MP7 fire rate fixed. Ammo count increased and mag count and damage decreased
- APC Update – "Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials". This fix was a miscommunication to the patch team. Chinese and MEC APC’s have been reverted and the LAV25 now no longer shoots through penetrable materials.
- Vehicles no longer disappear when viewed from some vehicles with a HUD (e.g. Tanks).
- Performance gain found in static mesh rendering.
- Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced.
- Grenade launcher projectiles now have a minimum time before arming.
This is a list of confirmed fixes only – we are still looking at others that we hope to be able to announce soon. As always, thanks for your support and keep talking – we’re listening.
---Alot of my mines wishes came true. Good stuff.

$20 for six maps and a few new weapons/vehicles/soldier skins is pretty ridiculous (especially when companies like Epic and Valve have regularly distributed similar types of "fresh content" for free), but I'll probably still pay the price because I'm a dedicated Battlefield player that craves access to all the game's content.
I'll give you a good example, this would just be like me trying to get into TFC, even though I wasn't there for the original. I can see why it is fun , but I'll never have the same amount of fun with it that you and Gros do.Originally Posted by Destro777
BF1942 and especially Desert Combat will always have that special place in my heart. I personally wish that the choppers on BF2 would handle as they did in Desert Combat. They had so much more control. That was one thing that I actually didn't like about BF2 initially, but had to adapt to. The heli-duels in DC were so intense. I could go back and play it right now. I really do love the fact that the Anti Tankers had anti air rockets too. I can only dream that they do that in BF2.
The on-foot action does leave something to be desired in the 1942 series. You're right about it being night and day in that regard. BF2 is a joy to play on-foot. It is truly the complete package.
Where you been at lately?
I feel the same way about paying in small incriments. I do't like it. but I'll be the first one in line to do soOriginally Posted by wEEman33

I like the fact that they are making one Xpack more infantry-based and the other more vehicle-based. I think that is a great idea, because personally, I thought the series was going towards an on-foot direction, which would have been disappointing. I like both styles and if you don't like planes and you think that they're overpowered, then learn to fly and even the odds. Dog fighting IS fun. The only thing I don't like is when you see 5 people camping a plane spawn. Sometimes for fun, I pop a couple postol rounds into those guys, since they are doing nothing to help.
I love the changes in the patch. being able to pick you mines and plastic back up is something I wanted to see for a long time. Also glad to see the same team red-name bug is FINALLY getting fixed too. That should have been addressed first patch.

I love all the Battlefield, even Vietnam had some things about it I liked. Been playing shooters online since Quake so going back a few generations of games doesn't bug me - I still play the original Team Fortress [for Quake I] from time to time.

Planetbattlefield.com posted some more info on the Armored Fury booster pack:
Battlefield 2: Armored Fury will add three new maps, all set in the rural heartland of America where the US forces defend their homeland from Chinese and MEC forces. This Booster Pack will also introduce two new vehicle classes: Attack Jets with the ability to use rocket pods and cluster bombs, and agile Scout Choppers which will reveal nearby enemies. "Midnight Sun" takes place on the Alaskan border, where Chinese forces make landfall. "Operation Harvest" will take the player to the vast open plains of Pennsylvania where only the expert use of air and armor will assure victory. "Operation Road Rage" sees all-out tank warfare on the freeways of America.
