Making the booster packs download-only is really going to test the functionality of this new EA downloader service; I predict that the Euro Force release is going to be a total mess whenever it finally does come out.

Like diffusionx, I haven't been playing too much BF 2 lately because of all the frustration that the 1.2 patch added, but if the transition to 1.21 goes smoothly, then I expect my interest will be rekindled.

I'm really interested in seeing how the EA Downloader works. What I'd really like to know is how it will work if I want to transfer over to another computer. Will I have to buy the Euro pack again?

1.2 has caused me nothing but problems, but my new laptop is partly to blame. It has an ATI Radeon Express 200M, which has the same specs as the X600 in my last laptop but runs about half as well. The 1.21 patch is supposedly going to offer more support for ATI cards, so I'm really hoping this helps me out.

  3. A friend of mine purchased Special Forces through the downloader and had no problems with it at all. The downloader will be kind of like Steam where you have a user name and password. As far as downloading to other PC's I think you can, esp. a BF 2 game since 2 keys can't be in use at the same time.

I've got a little bit burned on BF as well with its problems. I've been catching up on console stuff as of later. I'm sure once the patch and new content come out, I'll be all over it again. Unless the patch is another horrid mess.

  4. The patch is out now. Go to Fileplanet to get it. I'll post impressions later.

  5. BUG FIXES
    - Fixed the Hmmwv with TOW crash on Battlefield 2: Special Forces maps
    - Fixed the Battle Recorder crash
    - Fixed the screen capture
    - Fixed the issue with Pixel Shader 1.4 video cards
    - Fixed the issue that caused heat seeking missiles to stick to oil towers
    - Fixed the issue that caused heat seaking missiles to ziz-zag
    - Reduced the maximum number of claymores that can be dropped to 2
    - Fixed the Server Browser filter to enable search by map name
    - Fixed the error in Client - Server communication causing sound, animation and other
    sync issues.

Noticeably absent is the redname bug and the anti-tank bug. According to people on TotalBF2, its still a piece of shit.

So why are they releasing this then? Honestly, it sounds like the only thing that was fixed were a few of the major bugs braught on by the last patch, which by my count, still leaves a plethora of bugs in the game. Hopefuly by the time I build my new PC, they will have gotten most of the bugs out (not likely).

  7. I havent run into any bugs at all. Everything seems cool. Claymores are still annoying though. Red name bug seems to be non-existant. Try playing the game instead of listening to the internet.

True true. The changes made WERE really good ones. The noob tube was nerfed, visible UAV, etc. The only true negatives were rockets going through jeeps(once in a while APC's) and the red-name bug on certain maps(blah blah). So instead of trying to go and dig into past posts of mine in attempts to "PWN" me, why don't you try enjoying the game instead of bitching and saying how horribly broken the game is. I think you have a while to go before you can sniff my shit at this game.
