Does anyone care? Anyone? Anyone? Didn't think so.
Well, here's DICE's official explanation for the squad-hopping "fix"

This is certainly a reasonable explanation, so I suppose I'll just reserve any further judgment on the merits of this "fix" until the new patch is released and the new squad settings are in place.Originally Posted by DICE/EA

Anyone who actually plays the game should care. This reason for the fix is exactly what I was talking about last page of this thread.

I know, and once I get my new computer up and running I will care as well. I'm just giving wEEman a hard time since we are good chums.Originally Posted by Destro777
I got you on my xfire ElCapitan. Let me know when you're up and running. Weeman plays BF2 occasionally with us - and even then he's only in our squad for 10 seconds cuz he's a squad hopping fiend.

Yeah it's difficult to play with the bastard. It really helps when you are on vent with him so that way he can at least inform you to which squad he is swapping to.Originally Posted by Destro777

To help alleviate the wait for the 1.3 patch I decided to download the newest version of the acclaimed Project Reality mod with the hope that it will deliver a new and exciting way to play BF 2.
Project Reality 0.3 was just released a few weeks ago, and here's a brief explanation from the mod's official website:
"Project Reality is a modification for the Battlefield 2 engine. The developer's aims are to rework the original game engine developed by Digital Illusions of Sweden (Dice) to recreate a realistic combat environment. This includes adjusting the game's various elements that include physics, visual effects and gameplay. Along with changes to how the game handles, the PR team intends to include additional factions such as the British Military, and add to or alter existing factions so that they resemble real life military elements found within their respective environments."
For a more detailed listing of all the gameplay changes (there are quite a few), you can check out this thread
Impressions are forthcoming as I spend some time with PRMM over the next couple of days.
There’s a rumor going around on the Total BF 2 boards that the 1.3 patch is officially set for release on the 23 of May; here’s to hoping that the rumor comes true.
Had some GGs last night with Destro and a couple of other Cobra guys and I’ll be back on BF 2 this evening if any of you guys want to join in on the fun.
In other news:
I tried to get into the Project Reality mod, but as is often the case with video games, the developers' attempts to make Battlefield 2 a more "realistic" FPS have only made the game less fun in the long run.
Spawn points are often far removed from the action, which wasn’t too much of a problem in regular BF 2 because a simple vehicle ride could get you back into battle pretty quickly, but in Project Reality, only the first person viewpoint is available when driving, thus making driving to hot spots a slower and needlessly more difficult trial than it is in regular BF 2. Additionally, the custom maps seems to have less vehicles than the regular BF 2 maps, so in my playing experience, it was not uncommon at all to be left wandering around the map on-foot with no one to fight with.
The increased wait in between spawn times is even more aggravating, as you start with a 30 second wait for every respawn and are penalized an additional second for every death that occurs in the round and must suck down an additional 30 second penalty anytime you (god forbid) try to join a squad that would spawn you closer to the in-game action.
There are tons of other issues stemming from some shoddy map design and some poorly executed weapon/kit modifications, but really, the simple fact that you spend so much time just waiting in the limbo screen/wandering around on-foot, far away from the combat just sours the whole playing experience to the point that I can’t recommend this mod to anyone.

Well I am back to playing BF2 once again. MY new computer is able to run the game at max settings without a hitch in frame rate and I got a mic so I can talk shit to wEEman while playing.
So Destro and Changling, if u ever see me on xfire, hit me up and I should be down to play.
Also, GG's tonight wEE. Glad to be playing once more. We'll have to get some co-op LAN games going once the new patch comes out.
