I didn't think it came out in japan (there's no japanese ROM, that I've seen).Originally Posted by NeoZeedeater
But your right, and if it helps, the primary credit for the game seems to be "Hide Itoen".
I'm sure Activision didn't develop it as Sega originally released it in Japan and Activision's other SMS games were made by Sega.

Cool.
The Japanese version is rare. I have seen it on ebay for Dracula X-ish prices. I don't know who would be crazy enough to buy it with the domestic version available dirt cheap.
*edit - It's on ebay now and even more expensive.

Power Strike was/is the best shooter on the SMS, it had lots
of slowdown, but some of those boss battles were insane, esp
the final one. I had to send away for it, as it was a special
promotional game, but I believe it was also released to the stores.
Power Strike 1 and 2 were both excellent shooters. Did 2 come out in the US? I know I played it, but it could well have been a European version, since they were generally interchangable for the SMS. I didn't really know how to even tell the difference at the time.Originally Posted by Korian
Power Strike 2 was certainly a Euro release. It came out in '93 and there weren't any North American releases past '91. It's an awesome game.
Astro Warrior was decent for Sega's first SMS shooter, but they should've made it a full Mega Cartridge game with seven levels.
Bomber Raid is not bad at all, but it will become hellishly difficult if you lose a fully powered plane. Having the cool Phoenix ray and then going back down to the default power level can smart if you've gotten quite far in the game. Get a wingman or two and the odds are more in your favor. This is one game where a 1-credit clear is best done with one life.
$700 for Bomber Raid (Mark III version)? It's a good game, but that's a hell of a lot of jack to blow for it. I'd settle for the US version in this case.
Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
