Napolean Dynamite was an independant short character created by some no name. His name is Jared Hess. His shorts grew a cult following at the film festivals and small indy circuits. He was approached by a Fox executive and they asked him to make a film for their spotlight movie studio. And thus we get this trailer. I usually couldn't give two shits whether or not something felt indepedant or like it had been manufactured in a warehouse, fresh off of the line, and this is no different. I saw a preview for this movie when I went to see the movie Envy (see Bandits Envy thread), and there was a preview for this that knocked my socks off.

It's hard to explain why this movie catches your eye, but one thing is the amazingly unique protagonist they stick you with. He's just so weird and bizarre that you know it'll fathom up some hilarious moments. Almost every scene in the preview had me smiling, so I think this movie will be a hit. By hit I mean Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind awesome, not blockbuster Shrek 2 wise (also an awesome movie).

Check it out. I wasn't disappointed.

I'm going to be heading to a screening of this on Saturday at 2 pm or something like this. I think they're offering free t-shirts and whatnot to promote the movie and I'll be trying to get some. If someone else wants one and I can get multiples I will try and hook you up.

I also saw the trailer for this FANTASTIC looking film when I saw that glob of a movie Envy. Only positive from seeing that. I got really drawn into it mainly because I am a huge fan of the show "Freaks and Geeks" and this guy reminded me of Bill Haverchuck. Looks to be great stuff, I imagine it will come somwhere close to me.

I didnt like the movie. I saw the pre-screening of it. BTW, they were giving away "VOTE FOR PABLO" tshirts. I'll write more about what I thought about it and a picture of the free shirt (they also were giving away the girls shirt..forgot her name).
