Am not that sure on this game. THQ hasn't been living up very well to expectations. People were calling Day of Reckoning the next No Mercy but it wasn't that good. the Smackdown series is the best wrestling franchise right now but ign said they took a lot out of the game. Downsized the story, killed the rosters that before were always so big, th voice acting was repeitive(its true. I got the PSPM CD and the announcing is boring) and you only have 1vs1 macthes online(What the hell is That)

Yeah I got it. A TON of stuff has been removed. They added a few new things, revamped (AGAIN) the graphics, change the camera angle to be like TV style and added an annoying soundtrack.

So far (haven't played Season, just Exhibition) this has been a COMPLETE let down.

Why remove stuff? Yukes must have hired new teams or something, did something happen at Yukes? It seems nobody who worked on the previous series installments worked on these games. Some of the models even look really bad.

Day of Reckoning is an amazing wrestling game. It's easily the best one out there today. It's system is based on timing and reflex whereas Smackdowns is based upon tapping R2 and L2 as fast as possible when you see a grapple or strike coming (and works very very well too). Day of Reckoning needs better multiplayer features such as elimination modes and it would be tops.

This Smackdown game is easily the second worst in the series history. I don't know what they did, but they fucked up big time.

The only problems with DoR that I have involve slight animation issues, I can count more issues than that with SvR going by ONE vid. CAB should rule, and I think I'll get this game over the weekend, using my trade-in and review games to get it for next to nothing. Although if I can rent it at Blockbuster Friday night, I'll go that route.

GTA SA can wait until Xmas. And is the parking lot brawl what I saw in a vid? An irish whip fest with canned animations that cause things to have no meaning whatsoever?

I'm just hoping Season mode saves this game, otherwise it's thumbs down.

The new animations in this game are terrible. It's like they hired a bunch of students who have no understandings of physics. It's absolutely god awful. Rene Dupree's michinoku driver is terrible, the fist drop Cena does off the ropes are terrible. They also ruined going to the stage by fixing the view to an oblique angle. You can't go on the RAW announce table and the weapons are smaller and look like toys.

The only good additions to this game are JBL and ring steps having weight to them. Other than that it's a terrible, terrible game. I can't believe IGN gave it an 8.6. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 and I gave Here Comes the Pain a 9. It doesn't feel like Yukes progressed, it feels like a step back. The controls are looser and not as tight. The A.I. got WORSE, as if that was even possible and the new match types are retarded. The best thing about this game is the awesome box art, but Vince isn't even in the game so it really makes no sense.

Look at Batista's sit down powerbomb in DoR and then compare it to the one in Smackdown... hands down the worst animation team of all time. I don't understand how something so good last year can be so shitty this one.

Is it true that you can have tornado 6-man tag matches in the elimination chamber? That's a little rumor I've seen floating around. Worse AI? NO WAY. They just...can't get worse. Hell, three days ago, I had an RVD-HHH match, and HHH just kept falling off of the backstage cage area.

Pixelassassin tried to do a five star frog splash to Kurt Angle from the guardrail outside and Eddy slipped off the guardrail and fell backwards like he hit a banana peel. It was hilarious but also kind of dumb. I was JBL ref'ing the match.

But they made the tables smaller, yet you slide off of them like the last one so putting someone through the table is ridiculous.

I have been playing this a bit, and I like the additions... and appearantly they cut the roster because they had to remodel all the characters since they ahve 40% more polygons... it seems to me that since they worked on the graphics and voice so much that they couldn't add much else... and the voice isn't that good either since it's so limited and sounds shitty. There seem to be less alternate attire too (is it just me, or does only Cena have an alternate attire now?). I'm bringing it over to a friend's house tomorrow for some multiplayer which is all that really matters in the end for me. This is Just Bring It all over again... which means it's fun, but next year will be awesome.
