Eh, who cares. If Nintendo can't go online then they'll go the way of Sega and will fully deserve the position they put themselves in. Works for me.
No... I'm pretty sure it's because they hate us.Originally Posted by Kano on the Phone

I really wonder if they are off the mark they are by saying that internet has still not proven to be profitable for the majority of games...

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the G5 is not set up the way it is completely out of need for keeping the processors cool. Steve Jobs is absolutely anal about how much noise Macs make, so the G5 is set up the way it is so that it can keep the processors cool with as little noise as possible. A company making a game system that isn't as concerned about the noise the fans in the system makes won't have to go through as much trouble.Originally Posted by diffusionx
That said, there still is obviously the question of if IBM's Power line will be at a proper point by that time to fit into a nicely-sized game system. IBM is working through a bit of trouble with the 90nm (mm?) version of the chips... but hopefully that will be worked out soon, and by that point, the variety of processor that Nintendo or whomever wants won't be so bad to tame.

Kind of like how Nintendo learned the lesson on how important 3rd parties are for consoles?Originally Posted by Kano on the Phone
I'm not saying the thing won't have the ability to connect to broadband, but it will be about as useful as the GC BBA.
That isn't true. The GC is finally hitting it's stride, it is neck and neck with the Xbox at the end of last year and had a big burst of sales when that $99 price point hit. The only reason they made a loss last fiscal year is because of the yen vs the dollar(I think that their US assets we devalued or something?).They just aren't doing it now because they know that the GameCube is a wash and they're smart enough not to waste any more money on a dead console.
Though if they are going to make the "Revolution"(god I hate that name) online at launch, they will be putting a lot of security measures to really make it hard to pirate it. And would have something inbuilt ala Xbox instead of the current system.
Still I really don't want to see gaming turn into this creepy basement hobby.
I bet it'll have 40GB...
...of kiddiness.
15 gigs suggests they'll be using one of those tiny HDDs you find in iPods and whatnot.
I dont like the fact that everyone is using hard drives, in 5-10 years they will stop working and unlike your Genesis or Nes you are fucked.
Solid state media is where things need to go and will for that reason along with the faster access times...
Can't you just save anything you put on the HD via a hub, a cable and a PC-DVD burner?
