Thread: Segal and Van Damme Movies!

  1. Well, If you want to really see a bad Van Damm film, watch The Questm or Desert Heat, or Nowhere to Run(Oh, wait that one is funny. They always talk about Van Damm penis in that one ). Now, Those are BAD. Time Cop was decent, nothing special.

Surviving the Game was ok movie. Ice T VS Rutger Hauer and Gary Busy Had some ok action scenes too.

Sorry Nash, I hated Universal Soldier the Return. Only good thing about it, the fight you mentioned

Michael Jay White, needs to get some more roles. He is good martial artist, and he was pretty good against Seagal in Exit Wounds.
He also was in SPAWN, playing him Funny fact, he had a bit part in Original Universal Soldier as well

Some more fun ones of Van Damme Double Impact, Maximum risk both had the twins angle. The prison flick Death Warrant cool final fight scene. Sudden Death was cool with the Hockey game going on.

  3. despair, i told you i was in the minority. i understand why people don't like it, though. the whole movie was decent, but the last fight was so awesome.

i should note that the following movies, nowhere to run, desert heat, replicant, and legionnaire, are not van damme movies; they are movies with van damme in them. a van damme movie has van damme kicking ass and taking names. a movie with van damme in it is van damme trying something new (like acting). so if you're looking for a van damme movie, stay clear of those.

personally, i enjoyed those movies a lot. replicant and legionnaire were good movies. they weren't good van damme movies, but they were good movies with van damme in them. desert heat was cool, too, but only cuz it's a remake of akira kurosawa's yojimbo. and nowhere to run was decent.

as for timecop, i thought that was one of van damme's best ones. the action was good, the story was good (for a van damme movie), and he does the splits between the wall and the counter! i just thought that last one was cool cuz i could do the splits as well.

  4. Yea, Timecop was good, I also like The Quest. Don't really remeber Maximum risk though. Is that the one where he is in Russia? Knockoff did have some kickass action parts and I'm still looking for an unedited version of Hard Target. Is the DVD version unedited? Shit, I still remember the Hard Target ads in GameFan. I think there were the first DVD ads I've seen.

  5. Well, There are NO dvd of John Woo cut of Hard Target yet Its only available on VHS, and its a work print, but the quality is not bad. Had different music though. Check out vidjunkie.com for the tape.

  6. universal soldier: the return

i'm probably in the minority on this one (even among van damme fans). yeah, the story ain't that great, but i don't see a van damme movie for story (or acting for that matter). i think it's got van damme's best fight ever against michael jai white. you wanna see van damme do hk style fight? watch the last fight in this movie. fast, furious, and van damme whips out all the moves --- his famous spin kick, reverse somersault kick, off-the-wall forward spin kick, etc. goldberg was a good touch to the movie as well.
"are you saying that my destruction is worth more to you than your daughter's life?"
    "fuck you!"
This was one of the worst movies Ive ever seen .The original was 10x its quality.
Despair :have you heard of this jhon woo movie called'Blackjack'?Is it any good?

  7. Dude, Replicant sucked. It's so bad (besides those three stunts I mentioned) it bears re-posting. Although The Order is even worse.

  8. xS, Black Jack is US/Canada made for tv movie, starring Dolph Lundgren. It has usual John Woo style, and couple cool action scenes, but the story is not the best, and there are alot of boring and slow parts. It was planned as pilot for TV series, but it never was picked. If you fan of John Woo or Lundgren, you might pick it up, otherwise dont bother.
