Ghost looked fantastic at E3 on Xbox... the PS2 version was the choppiest, darkest game I saw at the show. The game was recently delayed, this probably has something to do with it. I hope Blizzard picks up the rest of it and cancels that dreadful PS2 version. I don't see how they would ever optimize that garbage enough to make it playable.

The only way Blizzard will cancel the PS2 version is if Microsoft throws an absolutely obscene amount of money at them, and even then, they'd probably only get a couple months of exclusivity. Cancelling the version for the console with the largest installed base defeats the purpose of going multiplatform in the first place.
Did you read the link? The game was already looking awesome, but it was taking longer than anticipated to finish. Apparently, Nihilistic had committed to another project in the not-too-distant future, and they decided to just abandon ship now instead of rushing Ghost to release before moving on to their next game.Originally Posted by MarsKitten
I think it actually bodes well for the game, as now someone with more time and resources, or possibly even one of the internal Blizzard teams, will be able to finish it.
Okay but no develper post-Nihilistic has been announced. Granted it could be great, Blizzard could take it internal, touch it up, finish the game and I could be proven wrong.
However no post-Nihilistic dev has been anounced at that worries me as I've been lusting after some starcraft lovin for some time. Ideal situation is blizzard takes it internal and does the crossplatforming themselves, otherwise they might give it to some publishing houses to adapt to each platform. Either could be good, or they could fuck it up.
I'm not an optimistic person, and even blizzard makes mistakes. Remember warcraft adventures: lord of the clans? I think I'd cry if this went the way of warcraft adventures. Hence: my worry.
Once there's news of where this baby is headed I'll rest easier.
Aren't Blizzard's internal teams, umm... busy? It's true we dont know what's beyond World of Warcraft but I doubt Blizzard has a group of developers sitting around. Sure they could move from some unannounced project to finishing Ghost but that's no good either.
Whoever said it, Blizzard, Homeland, Nihilistic, whoever, it sounds like spin. This game has entered development hell. OH NOES!Did you read the link? Of course it's not going to happen, but Kano can confirm that the E3 PS2 build was the worst build of anything in the entire show, and it'd be a fucking miracle if they can get that version of the game playable at all. The Xbox version had a fucking aura around it because it was so badass.Originally Posted by Mamoscott
Yeah, Blizzard North is working on an unannounced, secret project that I thought would be shown at E3 this year.Originally Posted by diffusionx

How exactly bad is the PS2 rev (frame rate, resolution, rendering, effects, animation, etc.) compared to the Xbox version?

The frame rate was easily 15 or below fps. The resolution looked like it had black scanlines over half the screen which made it dark as hell. Everything else is just what you'd expect from PS2 compared to Xbox: good enough, but far more muddy and jaggy.Originally Posted by Dolemite
The Blizz rep assured us that it would be fixed and be totally playable by release, but the game is being made for showcasing on the Xbox, and it shows.
I agree with the above two posts. You should have an Xbox already.
