Thread: Gamer Girls: A Plus?

  1. Any girl I've ever met that was a hardcore gamer has always had severe emotional or hygene problems.

My gf likes games, but it's a casual interest, though sometimes she can kill hours playing Harvest Moon or GTA.

  2. My ex-fiancee was into videogames, and it was cool to have someone to co-op Halo with. In retrospect, I'd have prefferred for gaming to be my own personal escape from the world- particularly from women.

Sorry, but that = teh sexy.
When the the phrase "isn't socially retarded or ugly" is used to describe a girl it always gives me a bad feeling...

I have to admit, though, nothing's cuter than a girl getting all excited playing a game.

  4. I actually came pretty close to snagging a girl that was into Ikaruga. She was also a really big geek (dare I say a bigger geek than I?), and a total knockout, completely stunning. Slipped through my fingers though. Just my luck, I guess. Would have been a fantastic match: finally somebody to get some 2P Ika action in with...

But naturally, this statement still holds:

Interest in videogames isn't enough. A far broader range of interests is much more preferable in the long run.

  5. I have a boyfriend who isn't all that into games. I also had a boyfriend that was extremely into games, both have their ups and downs.

It is quite frustrating that my room flooded and I had to move all my electronics. I was spending a fair amount of time at the man's house, so I just moved them up there for a while so I could get some use out of them. He doesn't want me to ignore him and play or to do any 2P action. So, I haven't really had much of a chance to play any games unless his friend BT is round - then I get to play without feeling guilty.
I like my women like I like my coffee. Covered in bees!

  6. I'm pretty indifferent to the whole issue.
On one hand, it would be nice to share a hobby with a girlfriend, especially if she pays for her share of it.
On the other hand, gaming can be a great way to spend some alone time, or spend time with friends. If your girl is into games, then you can't really use it as an escape, at least not from her. And besides, girls usually have crap taste in games anyway, and most girl gamers that I've met are nippophiles or are into some other lame garbage. There are few things that creep me out more than a grown woman wearing a hello kitty back-pack.
Anyway, like so many others have already said, there are so many more important things to look for in a person that I don't think an interest in games is really relavent.

LOL! BT!! I will always call him that from now on. Or maybe B.T. Barracus.

The last girl I was with had only casual interests in games, which meant I didn't play them much at all, and often had to decide between playing games with my friends and spending time with her...

I think it'd be better to have someone who can get along with my friends and at least stand my interests in the long run, once the initial infatuation starts to wear down.

Same exact thing happened to me.

And you're 100% spot on with that statement too.

  9. Rules for dating a gamer girl

    by Satsuki

Congratulations! You found a gamer girl. Hopefully she's a real catch, not 300+ pounds or a cosplayer, or both. Now, before you slap that wedding ring on her chubby finger, make sure of a few things:

    1. Chances are, your girl hasn't touched a fighting game since her brother beat her ass at Street Fighter 2 turbo in the early 90s. Ween her onto the next gen classic fighters, while teaching her to chant "SNK is a great company, SNK is a great company." (or if you prefer, "SNK sucks, SNK sucks") And when you play MvC2, make sure that you explain "broken" to her, such as "Hey, look! I can beat your Jill with Cable in 3 hits. doesn't that seem unfair? That, girlfriend, is what as known as BROKEN. now you try, young padawan."

    2. If your girl has the unfortunate advantage of being into Bemani, try and get her onto better musically inclined games. Lots of Betards look over the greats: Parapper, UmJammer Lammy, loads of obscure DC shit. Trust me, you'll get tired of her stomping around at 6am trying to GET PAST MAX 300!!!!!

    3. Now comes the hard part. Chances are, your gamer girlfriend is also an *deep breath here guys* anime/japan fan. Now, that's all well and good as long as you are too, but if you can't stand the big eyed robo smashing singing dancing kawaii bakaness of it all, and the thought of getting married in a traditional japanese ceremony (even though you don't know a lick of japanese other than 'hadouken') disgusts you, you've got some work to do. A good tactic is to show her aspects of japan fans that suck. Show her how stupid throwing random japanese words into your everyday speak sounds(especially when pronounced wrong! They hate that.) Show her how more skin is not always best. (for added results, borrow her Sailor Moon costume and try it on. Exclaim "see how embrassing this looks!!!??" and get her to promise and never wear it again, except maybe during sex, you sick freak.)
and for the love of god, listen to me here guys- get her to realize that there are GOOD AMERICAN COMICS TOO. Slowly start replacing her manga collection with Batman:Year One, and maybe some added Tank Girl for luck.

    4. Show her that RPGs don't just mean "Final Fantasy." or "Morrowind." There's better stuff out there. I'll let you fill in the blanks.

    5. Here's a tough one for some of you to wrap your heads around, especially the gentlemen out there. Don't.Let.Her.Win. When you're playing a round of your favorite puzzle game, don't be the nice guy. She has the skills to beat you, and if she doesn't, she needs to learn by trying! Whoop her ass until she fights back, and promise to buy her ice cream once she beats you <3

    6. And finally, perhaps the most imporant all around rule: Make sure she goes back and plays the classics. Not just Mario Bros and Tetris, but Blaster Master, Maniac Mansion, Castlevania, Contra, etc. Don't have a SNES or NES around? Emulate those bitches! Buy her a spiffy new USB controller to play them with. (Then while she's playing the classics, you steal the xbox and have some sweet, sweet DOAX time with the ladies. mmhmm.)

    Bonus Tip~!

Just a pet peeve of mine- get the girlfriend to realize DOAX is a shopping sim, not just an "Oggle the ladies game." she learn soon enough.

So, thus closes Satsuki's rules for dating a gamer girl. I hope all goes well for you crazy kids and your love together, and when you have a kid, make sure they play baseball or something. That will keep them away from your playstation 10.

    ~the end~
