Either that, or I'll play a fighter with them and pretend I suck, until I have a hair of health left and beat them anyways, THAT really kills their self esteem.

I tend to do that without thinking. Whenever I'm playing someone that doesn't normally play fighting games (be they female or not) I'll go easy on them for a while, but then when it starts getting real close to me losing I'll start actually trying. This is lots of fun if the game happens to be SC2, because Ivy's range and throws dominate without even trying over anyone who doesn't use block effectively. I generally feel like an asshole afterwards but it's still usually funny.

I used to play regularly with a (female) friend on XBL, and it was rare for a game to go by without some jackass calling her fat and/or ugly. Kind of amusing since nothing could be further from the reality, but even then -- pretty fucking ignorant.

Just mirroring alot of the posts in that its a definit plus if the girl is into games as much as I am. Though Ive never seen that. Save one girl who came into my game store and after her boyfriend(I assume) said something derrogatory about the SegaCD she spouted off games like Shining Force CD, Dark Wizard, Sonic CD, Lunar, Android Assault, ect.. She was also into Magic the Gathering. Oh, and she was hot. I really wish that guy wasnt with her. *sigh*

Thinking of it though, I guess it's like music and movies and so forth. I mean, right now its a question of whether or not they even like it, but as time progresses and more and more women get into gaming, it just more a question of taste. I mean, if I like a girl and find out that she is only into pop music, that tends to be a turn off, just because of my personal taste. If Im talking to a girl and she is into games, but only likes Tekken, The Sims, and Tetris, then we probably wont get along very well in that area. So I guess, if a girl is going to be into the same things I am, then I hope it also coincides with the same genre's.

It's a pretty big topic to get into because you also have to consider things like what a relationship means to the individual, how important it is that the two people are into the same things. For me a big part of a relationship with a woman is sharing with eachother our passions, so I would hope she would like what Im passionate about, and I of her passions.

It's fun to talk about games, it's fun to play games, but sometimes you just want to do something else. In that regard, I like it that my girlfriend isn't into games AT ALL, because when I'm done playing or talking about games for awhile, I don't want to just turn around and do the exact same thing with a significant other.

Yea, it seems all cool and awesome in theory, but I'm glad my time with my girlfriend is spent going out and actually doing stuff, instead of sitting at home playing the same game I was playing by myself or with friends anyways, or watching her play the same game I just played through.

My hobby is my own, and I don't think I could deal with another girlfriend who was just as much into games as I am. It was a definite overkill, and I've done it twice now, so I think I've learned my lesson.

The fact my current girlfriend dosen't bitch when I go to EB, dosen't bitch about me buying games, sometimes watches me play them on the tv when she walks by, and dosen't criticize me for my huge collection. That's all I can really ask for.

I'm not desperate. I've only been single for a few months now. My point was that I've just never seen this. At all. I got constant slack over my gaming habits before, often getting into situations where I'd look like an asshole if I hung out with friends and *gasp* actually got to play something. While on the other hand she could do whatever.
Of course I've had friends that fit into this, but they're always just that. Friends. So really I was just saying that it would be great to enjoy something like that with a partner, simply because I never have. To be honest the entire idea of "girls like games" is pretty damn new to me. Maybe it's just where I live but that just doesn't happen here.

To clarify, it was your "OMG i'm marrying her" statement that provoked me. My last two serious girlfriends were seriously cute and seriously into games but seriously fell short of being wife material.

For some strange reason the act of running around a forest with your chubby, pimply, orange-toothed woman while wearing cardboard armor and beating other grown men with foam rubber swords while eating Dinty Moore Beef Stew and not showering for a weekend just sounds SO hot.
