  1. everything MrWhitefolks has said in this thread is 100% correct

  2. I agree with everything lithium said. The vast majority of MVS carts are cheap enough that you don't have to buy boots. The difference price-wise is insignificant and the risk of getting screwed over by scammers and bootleggers is not worth it. Also, why buy something made out of inferior parts that will breakdown faster than the legitimate versions. Meh...... In the end, just play the roms......

  3. I'd sooner put the $100-$200 into an MVS cabinet, but it's your money.

I forgot to mention 4 of the aes systems are boxed one was purchased in 1990. It safe to say i love neo geo and i will defend them and no emulator or console can duplicate the feel of the games and is a fact...

  7. The phantoms are being discontinued so if you want one, better get it now. They're not going to make them anymore.

Yea, that 40 dollar Metal Slug 3 BLOWS compared to the 300 dollar one for the Neo Geo. I'm so stupid for thinking that it was actually improved over the AES one, man, i'm retarded.

All the newer games coming out from SNK on consoles are spot on and perfect, and even includes extras sometimes not found in the AES version. That statement about "nothing can duplicate the feel of the games" was right 10 years ago, but now the feel can EASILY be duplicated, and it dosen't cost 300 dollars a cart to do it.

That is a easy one to stand by becuase i own both aes and the xbox version of metal slug 3. Hands down anybody who owns aes version knows what i am talking about the feel is totally different. The neo was around for a long time and is a aquired taste. It is getting harder and harder to finish collections.
MVS is really the way to go now becuase if you look on ebay the aes selections have slimed downed. I just bought metal slug 5 on mvs becuase some places have raised there aes prices by 50% Neo Geo truely is for the hard core.

I disagree, I think the ports nowadays, on PS2 and Xbox, are better than the NG original.

The main thing that really bothered me on the ports before is the load times, even with Sega Saturn's 1 meg (none of the SNK ports ever took advantage of the 4 megs as far as I know), there was still considerable loading. DC's 2d graphics just look like crap to me (for the ports anyway), but I thought Xbox's MS3 was spot on. With new missions and stuff, and a $40 price tag, one can easily argue that it is better than a $300+ cartridge.

I was a big proponent of the NG platform a few years back, since collecting them back in 1992. But 12 years later, I can no longer say the same when the Neo Geo has been eclipsed not one, not two but three generations of hardware. The medium is cheaper now, the processing power can emulate the NG and then some, and SNK is finally putting out respectable ports (with extras). About damn time I say.
