The Retroware TV Genesis vs. SNES video was so biased it was both infuriating and embarrassing.
And if that person exists, SSJN, I haven't found them. Maybe it should be me.
If I wasn't lazy I would do it, as there are a ton of games on non-Nintendo systems besides the Genesis from back then that I never got the chance to try but wanted to.
Except it wouldn't be good if I did it.
Ironically, if I were to do it, I'd probably have to go with Japanese exclusives on Nintendo systems, because I've played most of the good stuff on everything else.
Looked it up on SegaRetro. Yeah, it is II. Weird. http://segaretro.org/After_Burner_Complete
Turns out the Sega Ages version is better, I guess? The 32X mode had a hidden story about saving a princess in your plane. Was that in the Sega Saturn version, too?
Pretty sure After Burner II contains and completely replaces After Burner. It's not like a brand new game with different everything.
According to that wonderful Hardcore Gaming 101 Sega book, you are correct. II was basically Metal Slug X to I's Metal Slug 2. Now it all makes sense.
I like watching the Game Sack guys. One of the guys seems to be a serious collector and is a Sega guy and the other a Nintendo guy. A lil cheesy but with a wink and a nod.

They're both big collectors in general but they exaggerate their biases on the show.
They say "for the most part" for the most part, neither are particularly good at completing games, and have displayed dubious taste in the past (Super Adventure Island is the best Adventure Island? What?)
I like the show. Dave works in video production so it has a pretty professional look to it. He's also a really close-minded asshole that snaps at everyone on forums.
