Thread: Awesome new Genesis site is up

  1. Dreamcast

I enjoyed the "Ten Best Genesis Games with Bad Box Art" feature. Looking forward to more features like this that refuse to merely review games. There are many facets of this burgeoning artform that deserve discussion. Bravo!

On a more critical note, I find black backgrounds w/light words hard to read. I'm sure studies would back up my anecdotal evidence. The Genesis was black, tho, so I can't really fault you for it. The black gives the site a more Genesis-like feel. Nice and retro. The font is big enough that it really isn't that bad. Hm. I take it back. I like the black backgrounds. Yays!

Actually, I've read that black backgrounds with light text is easier on your eyes than vice versa.

  3. I hope everyone has their brightness high enough to see the "SEGA" logo on the background image.

    72 reviews and counting!

I'm always looking for contributors. Anyone want to write a review and/or feature?

  4. i see you added some of sam pettus's stuff. isnt he "the scribe"? good reading right there.

  5. Sure is!

There are a few sites hosting stuf from SegaBase. Sam's articles are awesome and are very insightful. I've got the ones on the Genesis, Sega CD, and 32X, but Eidolon's Inn has the whole thing, Saturn articles and all.

  6. What is the point of having like 15 Jeremy reviews, 14 of which give a game a 10, one of which he gives a 9, and all filled with lame, overused cliches in the typical Jeremy style? I realize that ragging on Jeremy's reviews nowadays is beating a dead horse, but come on...

  7. Rating systems are a mistake anyway, even the common '10' rating system. You can give a game 2/10 or 3/10 but either way it's shit, so they might as well be the same rating. If you're really have to have ratings, it's best to just use the five star system or even 4 is enough: bad, playable, good and essential.

Reviews are something you quickly scan through for information. They're not literature. So it's best to shorten them and get as much information into as small a space as you can. Most of those Megadrive/Genesis reviews are too long winded. They're valuable reviews though, of games I haven't seen reviewed properly anywhere else.

Add your own reviews Diff, imo it woul be nice to have multiple reviews for one game.

And although im cool with Jeremy I gotta say the guy has never met a game he doesnt like.

    01. I dont have any old Genesis reviews archived anywhere (actually I doubt I ever wrote any).

    02. I dont waste my time with antiquated crap so I wont be writing any new ones.

    03. I love to complain, especially on TNL.

    04. Id like Jeremy a lot more if he could actually add insight to topics instead of "this game looks fantastic, instant purchase" in every thread, and "What a great game. Classic. 10/10" in every review.
