Thread: Fallout 3

I knew that comment was coming. I got the package deal where you get the FilePlanet sub and they basically give away the IGN part. It's nice for HD videos.

  2. Why is this installing so slow? The agony!

And the lunchbox is cool if a bit silly but the bobble-head seems kinda cheap (yeah, yeah I know, wtf, lol, etc).

  3. Bought it today. I have to finish Yakuza 2 before I can play it... but the temptation is so fucking fierce.

  4. I got it, started it, and my 360 died on me. That's two consoles in two years!

    WTF

  6. I can wear Power Armor now, the only one I have is Enclave though lolol

Not an RROD, which is what's fucked up. I feel like chucking the goddamn thing out a window and trading all my games in.

I was just getting started in Fallout 3 too.

For the people that are playing it, does it eventually just become transparent, or are you repeatedly brought out of the moment by it?
Meh - it's about on par with or slightly better than Oblivion, and I'm fine with that. Considering that the animation doesn't get weird until close-up melee ensues, I'm ok. Not to mention the VATS kills are pretty damn fun to watch

Was fleeing from the Purity Project and blew off some Ghoul heads at the same time a Brotherhood member blew up some with a flamer. It was pretty sweet to watch

I also enjoy that not all enemies follow the "shoot and run at you til you're dead" AI philosophy. After taking out an enemy's leg, it actually hobbled behind a wall and tried to flank me from the side. Which in turn, made have a high Perception all the more sweet.

  9. I can't put this god damn game down! Every time I say I'm going to stop playing I end up stumbling across some other quest and am like "ok, let me just go and do this one real quick". Next thing I know 5 more locations pop up on my map and I end up wanting to go to all of those too.

This game has really fixed the main things that bothered me about Oblivion. First is the complete lack of direction Oblivion gave you. Even though I have spent 5 hours doing everything besides the main quest, I know exactly what I'm supposed to do when and if I want to do it. The other part is that I actually felt attached to my character and the world I was place into because of the introduction and how they set up your character and his/her situation. Very cool, and very interesting set up.

The gameplay itself is fantastic. I love the VATS system. Using VATS and managing my AP in combination with using the real time combat system has created some awesome and tense battles. Specifically, me just stomping out 3 Super Mutants that ambushed me on my way to investigate some kidnapped idiots.. They seemed to have streamlined the menu system slightly, and integrated it into your little watch gadget seems to work very well. It's still not perfect, or great, but it works, and gets the job done.

I spent 4 hours just wandering around the environment and doing quests in Megaton, I think it's about time for me to branch out and starting moving elsewhere in the world. My 2 concerns that will hopefully be alleviated later on, which are the same as Cap's, are that the environments do become more varied and not just strictly barren drab (but beautiful!) wastelands. And that melee combat feels more solid the more you improve your skills.

  10. I am seriously thinking about picking this up.

I only have like two weeks until Lich though. Maybe I should wait until we get to the weekly Naxx runs.
