any one else experience random lock ups in the game?
*edit*
make that constant full can't do anything have to pull the plug on the PC lock ups
Between Alpha Labs 2 and 3 (im jut now at 3) there was a section where I had about 20 enemies on the screen at once spider creatures
I am running 1280X1024 on High res 2xAA/ 4X AF, Tonight im gonna crank it up to 1600X1200 no AA/8x AF , after some of the above tweaks.
I setup a new rig just last weekend:
AMD 64 3200+ Newcastle 2.2Ghz 512 L2 Cache
MSI K8N Neo Platinum Nforce3 board
1GB RAM Corsair XMS C2 Pro (with LEDs)
PNY 6800 GT 256 MB
Audigy 2 ZS Gamer

The Circuit City by me has them in, and for 44.99 already.
Man, the more I play this game, the better it gets. One thing I'm not liking is the stupid spider creatures. They're basically H/L's headcraps but alot more annoying. Don't mind the few enemies at a time approach though. The enviroments are so cramped at times(Thast good) that any more would be pointless. The use of sound effects from the original Dooms(Like the keycard pickup) that made it in are a nice touch too.
This game really comes off like it's gonna be an amazing experience and then get kinda old like Quake 2's singleplayer.
I think you're talking about the Tricks and Traps level (my favorite Doom 2 level). If you are, it was a room packed with Barons of Hell with a Cyberdemon at the far end of it. The reason the invincibility power-up was there was because the door to the room LOCKS when you enter, and the switch to open it is behind the Cyberdemon.Originally Posted by Mzo

All the Barons of Hell have their backs turned to you when you enter the room, so what I would always do is jump around to get the Cyberdemon's attention...he'd try to blast me with a rocket, hit the Barons of Hell and they'd all flip out and gang up on the Cyberdemon. Much fun was had trying to guess who'd win...usually, if the Cyberdemon stayed on the offensive, he'd actually take out the entire room of Barons of Hell (at least 20). Sometimes, however, he'd turn stupid and just stand there or walk into a wall, and after ages of clawing the Barons would take him down. The random outcome would probably be something cool to wadger on.
Anyway, after the fun was over, I'd grab the invincibility power-up and mop up what was left of the winner/s.![]()

I think I got it in the Alpha 3 section.Originally Posted by Thief~Silver
It seems like HL2 will have a cool story and incredible use of physics but Doom III scares the crap out of me and is a great blast-a-thon. I imagine HL2 will be grand to play through for a totally different atmospheric feel.Originally Posted by Destro777
Two Demons in a room will pound the fuck out of me. Four Imps in a room is fucking chaos. When I picked up the plasma rifle imps starting teleporting in at a constant rate (probably went through about seven or eight) and I got raped badly, barely made it out with any life at all. The original Dooms were about having more enemies, but they couldn't move a quarter as fast and were nowhere near as deadly as these guys. If there was a room with six Imps and a Baron Of Hell in Doom you could pound the fuck out of them with a shotgun and never get hit just through the magic of circle-strafe. If you encountered that in Doom III the game would just go ahead and kill you before you entered the room just to get it over with.Originally Posted by Mzo
Are you sure they were actually there at once? They stream in with one replacing each one you kill, I don't think there's actually very many displayed at once. It's just a good visual trick.Originally Posted by D_N_G
seriously what is with you. are you fat and not get any or something? really the whole bitter/internet angle has been done to death.Originally Posted by diffusionx
in 1600 x 1200 you wont even need AA, and since the game is so dark i think AF is useless as well. crank it up and enjoy.Originally Posted by D_N_G
