Thank you Roufuss, I just headed out there and picked it up today. With the default settings it ran a bit choppy on my machine (While it has 2D sussed, maybe an Intel Extreme Graphics chip isn't all that as far as DOOM 3 is concerned).

I'll need to get a real videocard sometime, methinks.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

  2. My BF got this for his computer so I can finally play it. This is my first time playing a FPS on a PC so I am playing on Easy (and still getting my ass kicked ) This game is damn scary especially when everything goes to shit in the beginning. I was scared to leave the room when the shit started hitting the fan. All those fucked up radio transmissions, those Marines were getting slaughtered out there! I hate how dark it is all the time, it really messes with your nerves. The PDA is a great touch; very organized and helpful.

  3. I finally got some more play time in and made a bit more headway. Those spiders are fucking disgusting, the screaming heads are a pain in the ass (nice intro though), but the plasma rifle is sick. I think I missed the BFG though. I heard a Alien (total conversion) mod is in the works...can you imagine? It could be nuts if they can make good character models.

Anyone notice the terminals that say "back up your files" and then when you do it shuts off? Is there anything to those?

  5. So I just beat the game.

Biggest compliant? Super-demon-soldiers don't yell "I WILL EAT YOUR SOUL" like they did in the Beta.

Oh, right... that was my only complaint. Fucking amazing experience.

Onboard graphics chips tend to be weak(er) by comparison to standalone cards.

I still haven't finished this. Been playing between it and Silent Hill 3. I think I'll never have another restful night's sleep...but it's fun.

I quit using that onboard crap, a couple months after buying my HP Pavillion. I upgraded to a 64MB Geforce 2, then a Geforce 4 - 440(64MB) and finally to a Geforce FX 5200 with 256 MB. I have my power supply sitting outside the case, but the games run and look a hell of a lot better than they did running that crap onboard video card.

  10. A friend of mine played this for the first time last night. It's great seeing someone play it for the first time, the reactions are great. One of the coolest things I've ever seen, he had backed himself into a corner and it was dark except for some light that was coming from around the corner. He turns around and a zombie solider comes running around the corner right at him, so he unloads half a clip of the machine gun. Since it was so dark the gun shots lit up where he was standing and the zombie in front of him. It was straight out of a movie, the light flashing from the muzzle just enought to see the bullets hit the zombies chest and then he just drops dead. Man that was cool.
