Yes..its the 5200. Are you putting the game with max settings?? Maybe tone it down or lower the resolution. You have a nice cpu.. why not pair it with a better videocard? Another 512mb of ram always helps. Not sure if you have things running in the background either (scanner, firewall..etc). If so turn them off and see if that helps.

Doom 3 is videocard dependant, not cpu. Its his videocard that is his bottleneck. Thats a great cpu (can I have it? ), but the 5200 is a pretty underpowered videocard. Its not that much better than a geforce 3 so he's really pushing the card with doom 3.

Really?? What are your pc's specs cause my friend has a geforce 3 and he says the game is practically unplayable. Maybe his pc is bloated.. but 45fps on a geforce 3 is pretty damn outstanding.

Use the tweaks listed earlier in this thread, it really changes everything. Still, I got about 20-30 fps before those tweaks, so I don't know why your friend's having problems. I run it at 800x600. If I go 1024x768 it starts to go to about 15 fps, so I don't bother.

I really don’t see any valuable aspect in playing this game, it’s not fun. It literally eats away at you spiritually and really sucks you dry.

As a twenty-one year old I have to say I was freaked out, disturbed, and horrified by Doom III’s content. I can’t imagine what a thirteen year old would feel like.

...Gee, I wonder if that has anything to do with why there's a Mature 17+ rating on it (which he even pointed out earlier)?
