This same thing was going on w/ US Bank a couple months ago.
I recieved two of emails from "Citibank" today requesting to verify my banking info. Email shows up as support@citibank.com and it even has the citibank logo. I have never had a Citibank account in my life, nor do I attach the email that message was sent to, to any of my cc accounts. I didn't click any of the links of course. Just figured if this was a scam that I would make others aware.
Has anybody else, heard or seen this?
*edit* Just noticed that the citibank logo in the mailing does not have the ® in the upper corner.

your mom
Check the headers, find out what host sent it. I guarantee it wasn't one of Citibanks. I guarantee this, because I've received the same emails yet have no affiliation at all with Citibank.
well
ACCCUNT is a good clue on it being fake
eh, never mind...picture was at 99% size and the o was a u
I don't think we should warn about scam e-mails. Stupid should hurt and you'd have to be stupid to fall for this.
Agreed. Besides I get much more convincing scam emails from "Paypal" and "Ebay".Originally Posted by Mike
I got this Citibank deal too. The biggest hint to me was that it found its way to my work e-mail, which I would never give to a creditor.
That'll be the day. "Oh, here's my work e-mail. And why don't you call me at work to harass me during the day about my bill, too? That would be really helpful. Here's my direct office number!"Originally Posted by Yoshi
No organization would ever ask for account info via email. If one actually did, run far away from them as email's just about as insecure as it gets.
