I love the fact that once it calmed down and I asked you straight out what your ideas where you never posted again.

    I found that quite funny.

Gamefaqs+100 was just a figure of speech. I just want my site to offer what Gamefaqs has plus more. That is the purpose of this thread, but many didn't understand this.

They were too busy questioning whether I honestly can pull this off or not.
CJayC devoted tons of time to Gamefaqs, but whos to say I can't ?

Are you saying I'm not devoted to this idea?
I already HAVE Gamefaqs built, it's just Gamefaqs without content. The functionality is the same. (minus the forums)
The content wasn't an issue because it will be added as the years go on.

Diffusionx claims that if that site doesnt have Donkey Kong to add it. Same thing with Bolt 3. If you don't see something you can add it in. It's fully backend oriented to. Everything submitted must be approved before its posted on the site. It works great.

It's one of those things that sounds great in your head but has little to zero practicality.
That's the whole point of this thread. To get new ideas to add onto the site so it's not like every other site on the internet.
I doubt 99.9% of the people will dislike a character database. People in this very thread have posted interest in it.

  2. Its because I gave up on you. I dont have any ideas, just opinions.

Thing is, I want this site to be more than a Gamefaqs clone. I want this site to be Gamefaqs + 100. Therefore I have come to the best place to ask for some friendly suggestions.

What do you want to see in a game site? Free game music? A controlled community?

So far, I've shown a couple people the bare bones that I have up and they seem to enjoy it. I have a couple things in store for the site already like a character database (you search for Mario, it brings up a short bio, a picture, some featured games (linked to those games) and more..).
I'm also in the process of making the game 'info' page much more attractive and a lot more like an 'EB world description' page than just an info sheet.

Keep in mind, I haven't done too much to the design yet, so it is still basic bones. I will be updating it A LOT over the next while. I basically wanted to get the functionality down before I worked on the design. I thought that was most important.

Anyways, take a look and give me what you would do or add.
http://www.bolt3.com/systems.php is a solid entry point for now, so use that.
Or if you want to see one of the more full game sections check out http://www.bolt3.com/gameinfo.php?gameID=123 which is Buffy for Xbox. I've put something in every section I believe.

Hopefully with your help I'll be able to build a great gaming database that people will use for years to come. Here's hoping!

(I plan on having a credits section so anyone who assists me will most likely get in there!)

    Enjoy

Please show me where I asked for your opinion.

  4. TOO BAD you get them. Deal with it, or continue crying.

  5. Let me point out key things you might have misinterpreted:

Granted you were the one that mentioned the colours. You should read quote 4 and 5.

  7. Oh, I understand your intentions and what you wanted from me. Sorry for not strictly adhering to your restrictive guidelines. Its just that no matter how much imput or ideas I come up with, and no matter how much time you put into it, your site will never take off or do well. So why should I even tax myself to come up with them?

    Its da truf.

  8. MobyGames and AllGame.com should be your inspiration instead of Gamefaqs. If what you want to do is provide something unique and different, don't bother with user-submitted faqs. But if you want to do a game/publisher/developer/character database, give it your best shot. I'm not worried about the design because that can always change, however your goals most be defined first and foremost.

Aside from mentioning everything that MobyGames and AllGame.com already does, try to do some of the following:

-Provide a database of game artwork for a series when you search for a character/game
-Provide a track record for a producer, director, composer including what companies they've worked for, what games they've worked on, etc.
-Provide some old school gaming information similar to NeoZeedEater's threads on here.
-Like it was mentioned before, provide info on related stuff to a certain game: anime, movies, tv shows, toys
-Link to the best fansites for better in-depth info on the series that you can't provide, say if I were to look for Mega Man, I'd recommend visiting Mandi Paugh's Mega Man Homepage

Oh, and try to be more open to criticism, like it was mentioned before, you've got to have a thick skin when you ask for suggestions and comments, never let your ego get in the way of your goals.

    edit:
That's the kind of attitude that gets me no where.
If you believe that, hey there is the door. Use it. You haven't offered any advice and now that I've made it crystal clear that you haven't contributed anything you go on to the next level. Which is just blatant bashing.

You have no idea if my site will take off. I didn't know this forum was regulared by Miss Cleo. Everyone give her a hand.
