Thread: trickjumping video - quake 3

  1. I downloaded it, but the avi doesn't seem to want to play on my quicktime. I'm about to mess around with it some more.

    edit: Wow That is all!

This is the greatest videogame-related video I've ever seen. The editing is amazing, and the actual trickjumping is jaw-dropping. All 20 minutes of it. Jesus.

What are the names of the maps in this video? There are a shitload of nice ones. I also have trouble believing that all of this was recorded from a spectator's point of view. Is there any way to recam Q3 demos?

no idea, but the names are probably in the credits.

after watching the video, i'd have to say yes. some of that stuff is coreographed so well, it couldn't possibly be a spectator mode.. to say nothing of that bullet-time-esque section. i'd have to watch it again to make sure.

First place I checked, and I didn't see anything. I have found a few of them, and these Defrag Map Packs might be leading me somewhere...

  5. I downloaded this, but I haven't watched it yet... is this video full of people rocket/plasma jumping and such?

  6. yes. the stunts are (very) nice, but half of the awesome comes from the editing and music synchronization.

  7. Oh. Well, that video didn't quite agree with my computer, and I've seen a lot of stunt videos from Q3/CS/etc. over Winamp TV so I'll take your word on the editting.

  8. Heh, I DLed this and completely forgot about it until now, but that was amazing. Are there people who actually pull that stuff out in gameplay or is it too difficult/costly to use that stuff in combat?
So I forced my hands in my pockets and felt with my thumbs and gallantly handed her my very last piece of gum.

The editing is the best you'll ever see from a gaming video. The jumping itself is not that big a deal unless this is your first time seeing it. But they used Adam Freeland in the soundtrack, and that scores them huge points (he did the Area 5 "Fear" track in Rez).

  10. Got it, finally. Both the production and the performances are highly, highly impressive. Thanks for the heads up, epmode!
