F-Zero GX for me because they notched up the difficulty, more secrets, good story modes, a lot more racers to unlock, looks amazing, great track design and good music and hidden tunes too. Improves on F-Zero X in every are IMO....
Hello! I've been lurking here for a while and decided to register. This is actually thread 1.5... my first thread was a somewhat lenghty comparison of the track design in X and GX. Then when I hit "submit new thread", the site told me I wasn't logged in! How was I even able to type up a thread if I wasn't logged in to begin with?! Frustrating... this version will definitely be shorter.
Basically, it comes down to this: F-Zero X has shorter tracks that are more narrow (which encourages combat) and have more sharp turns. GX excells in things like tubes and half-pipes, which seemed like afterthoughts in X's track design, but has wider tracks (which discourages combat) with less zig-zag type turns. GX also doesn't make as much use of things like dirt and ice as X does, and doesn't have as many "tricks" to the tracks as X does. For example, in Space Plant (Joker Cup), if you pick up enough speed going up one particular hill, you will ascend into the sky and pick up some major speed. There really isn't anything like this in GX, save for the snaking which is another thing altogether.
Sorry, that doesn't leave much to debate. But I'm not typing up another long post right now. I'm still angry about losing my first thread. So, what do you guys think on the topic of F-Zero X vs F-Zero GX?

gx >>>>> x
sega's last great game (at least, i can't think of any other recent ones.) gameplay is similar, but the story mode, track design and graphics upgrade put it way above x. wavemaster also outdid themselves. the soundtrack isn't as good as the original game, but the (41!) diverse pilot themes are a nice touch. i just wish you could race to them.
btw, the tube tracks suck in both games. memorizing boost locations on an only partially visible track isn't my idea of fun.
Especially Falcons theme."Forever he will be my hero" was a great tune and I always have that on when viewing my replays.
I prefer F-Zero GX track wise but I liked the music in X better.
You don't even need to play either game to know the answer. One is an arcade racer by Sega. The other is an arcade racer by Nintendo. Which one do you think will be better?

Well, the original F-Zero was better than any Genesis racer and Waverace 64 was better than Wave Runner so I would say there are exceptions to that rule even though Sega is usually king of the genre.Originally Posted by Yoshi
Agreed, though Virtua Racing on Genesis was amazing considering the hardware.Originally Posted by NeoZeedeater
