Thread: Alien Hominid

  1. I haven't read about any real differences between them. It looks like it just boils down to controller preference.

    I'm glad those who enjoy it do, but it rankles me to see it praised so much when it's so undeserving. ^_^;
I'm soooo not riding its nose...whatever that means...

I had fun and I said so. That a well deserved complement in my book... As I said earlier, I beat the hell out of Shattered Soldier, and I still think this game is good, if a bit unpolished (my game froze once and the random soldier spawning could definitely lead to some undeserved deaths). Also, playing for score is completely broken since the Russian Bears won't die until they appear as part of the boss attack. You could just stand there with autofire on and score forever. Regardless, I enjoy playing it and I think I'll keep it once I'm done, whereas I promptly got rid of Contra:SS after I got the S-rank.

Roufuss: Some minigames are unlocked by blowing up certain buildings with grenades. Maybe something similar happens with the wigs? I've got a lot of them, but I'm not exactly sure why...I have been trying to stay alive and go for a 1 credit run, so maybe it's points or finishing stages without continuing?

  3. Finally got this (another EB gut...Doh!) and I'm impressed! Yes, there are problems. The game length should be cut down by 2/3 to 4/5. Waaaaay too much filler right now. Even so....damn, I'm having a blast!

Great to see a "little guy" company create something like this and have it work.

  4. I'm getting the Gamecube version on general principle. Principle not being "support Nintendo", although I've got no problem doing that already, but rather "when getting a multi-console game avoid the PS2 version". 9 times out of 10 it's the right thing to do.

  5. Played the PS2 vers. of this yesterday.
Kudos to the little company that could. I think it's a pretty cool game. Hard, too. I"ll support this effort.

But uh, Metal Slug killer, this is not.

I would have enjoyed 5 well thought out, well planned stages, rather than 16 =/

  7. where's my XBox version

  8. I can't find this game at all anywhere.

  9. It looks like the majority of Gamestops and EB Games only received enough copies to fill out pre-orders. In short, if you didn't pre-order Alien Hominid you're probably going to have to order a copy off the 'net.

Since I'm stuck taking the online route, has anyone here ordered a copy straight from the game's official website? If so, how fast was the shipping process?

Edit: Just so there's no confusion, I'm talking about the Gamecube version, not the relatively easy to find PS2 version.

  10. Went down to EBGames to pick up Riddick for $10. It was sold out, but lo and behold they had a copy of this for PS2, so I snapped it up.

It's a fun little game. Wish it hadn't copied the worst features of Metal Slug, though. I would have preferred to see some more Gunstar influence.

Has anyone pointed out how excellent the music is? The overall presentation is top-notch.
