Thread: What are Your Thoughts on Noobs?

  1. GG board was something totally different though. We were all doe-eyed innocent little games ready to be lead by these great writers into a new era of video game journalism.

Not to mention, many of us have been posting together for a few years now so it is understandable that we are a close-knit bunch. If people are dumb enough to post "hey look at me" threads or cannot get over it when we give em a little hazing then we probably do not want them.

  2. Mman hit the nail on the head. We all know each other pretty well, and most of us would not hesitate to meet up and go frolic around somewhere. Some idiot that comes in and says, "look how great I am" or "if you got a problem with n00bs tough shit" will be mocked and I wouldnt have it any other way.

  3. I don't care if n00bs post, it makes no difference to me. when they start a HI I AM NEW thread however, I'm all for deleting it. I think it should be a rule that we have none of those threads. Also, it seems like people that make a HI I AM NEW thread post on that thread, maybe once or twice on some other thread, and never post again. It's weird. why would you make hi i'm new thread if you are never ever going to post again?

  4. I use n00b for someone that's been on a board for a while, or should know general knowledge, and still doesn't know shit. He's a newb to life, and knowledge itself. Newbie is the nice term for a new kid to the place. They're both very different.

  5. When I was a noob I just started posting in threads, most people had no damn idea who I was but I never got any "stfu n00b" stuff. Eventually I became part of the community like everyone else with no hazing on the way.

Damn you got off lucky, GG boards were hell...esp those of us who didn't hump the the mighty leader's leg...I got quite a lot of ass reamings and it made me a better forum warrior for it...

But here is different, plus there is way to much crap being posted, noob or no noob, if you have something interesting to add to a relevant thread, than do so...just cause you are a noob here, doesn't mean you are a noob to the subject...

but noobs, you gotta be able to stand up against the vets and defend your thoughts/opinions in a respectable way, responding with "you are an ass licker, etc" ain't gonna fly...

Oh and respect your elders...we're old, it's all we got...

The problem with noobs is that no one comes in with a sharp wit and anything interesting to say. They try to be friendly with horrible, elementary jokes like "Hi I'm new, but I'm old too! HEHEHE " and anything along those lines to try and fit in, when all it does is make you seem like a weird, overbearing douche.

If someone comes in here quietly and without forced charm, no one hazes them. sethsez came out of nowhere and flew his homo flag high without being an attention whoring cock and has a good sense of humor. No one complains about him.
