Thread: Special Metroid Prime GameCube Bundle

  1. Could you tell me what store that was? I can find the S-video cables anywhere, but component is hopeless, as far as finding one in a store. I've looked at Fry's, Best Buy, Gamestop and Walmart. Nothing but S-video and composite, from the 3rd parties.

Well thats not too smart now is it? ;-D For goodness sakes, if someone were THAT interested in the component cables, they could at least call Nintendo's toll free number (in the USA - 1-800-255-3700) and ask if they exist (assuming they didnt know they were being sold at nintendo.com). Nintendo would, of course, tell them they can get them on the web site. Problem solved.

If people are that lazy that they cant call Nintendo and ask, then the component cables cant be THAT important to the person anyway :-)

Ah well if Interpol (above)'s comment is correect then it hardly is a problem anyway :-)

Dont even bother. This is the same guy who thought surround sound was inferior to regular, tv speakers because we hear sound best when it is directly in front of us. He lacks any semblance of a brain or logical thought.

I'd like to know about this third-party Gamecube component cable, also.

Nintendo put a proprietary EEPROM chip in their component cables, so no.

  6. Damian79 - What is that supposed to mean? I understand people can be lazy about finding products if its not right in front of them in a store. Im sure it happens. Im simply saying its not Nintendos fault if someone is too lazy to call Nintendo and ask :-)

We do hear sound the most clearly when its directly in front of us. In case you havent noticed, our ears are angled forward ;-D

This means we hear sound clearest when it gets to our ear unobstructed. If you have the rear surround speakers BEHIND you, then by definition, the sound is being obstructed by the back of your ear before it gets in your ear canal.

So the center/front speakers would be just fine. The rear speaker sound tho would be heard as LESS clear than if the same sound was emitted from the front speakers.

And yes, sound does "bounce" . thats how it gets to your ears from behind you (the rear speakers). However, each time it bounces it degrades the clarity of the sound. So by the time iit reaches your ear canal, its less clear than when it was first emitted by the rear speakers and definitely less clear than if the exact same sound was emitted from the front speakers in the first place. Thus, why I prefer simple , direct sound coming from right in front of me (no surround soundor at least no rear speakers)

Oh yeah, and you are the guy who lacks any semblance of tact and politeness. You are quite possibly one of the rudest people Ive ever "met". Congratulations on reaching a new low. Disagree if you must, but don't go around insulting people's intelligence.

    LOL

  8. dhowerter: Consumers are by default, lazy asses. And hence they are not going to bother going the extra mile to get the component cables unless they it is right there at the store. The End.

  9. Damian79 - If you're correct, then why is everybody making such a big deal over the removal of the component port on the GC?

If consumers are all THAT lazy, they can't be that gung ho about getting the Component Cables in the first place, now can they, and wont care if the port is removed. :-)

  10. Why the hell should I have to call Nintendo and ask if the cables exist and then buy them online?

I should be able to walk into Wal-Mart, Sam Goody, TRU, EB, GS, Best Buy, Circuit City, Comp USA, etc and just BUY THEM, like every other game cable ever made for a console.

Perhaps people aren't gung-ho about them because they don't know they exist? Have you ever seen Nintendo promote them? Advertise them in any way?
