Thread: Lack of time

  1. Final Fantasy 9 - Probably the cutesiest game in the series, but the story is quite well told with a really unique look to its world. Well worth playing.

Grandia - Not a fan. Its battle system is no longer innovative, everything is hyper-choppy and the story is written for 8 year olds.

Dragon Warrior 7 - Only recommended if you really, really, really like Dragon Warrior's random battles. I won it just to prove that I could, but I probably could have spent the 120 hours on four other good rpgs. Does possess a unique defiantly 8-bit charm, though.

  2. As much as I liked the original Persona, you'd think I'd love Persona 2 - but the battle system they put into place was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen.

Boring? I can see how people wouldn't like it for its setup, combat, item and creation systems, or building characters to send them off design, but boring? That just puzzles me.

You wished it was something it wasn't, didn't you?

I think it was the same issue for me. Many of the elements that made the original so great was missing. And it also did a ton of things wrong. The battle system was great until you figure out how badly implemented the summons were. Same goes for the insane amunt of characters.

I think that if I didn't use the summons and all the characters I would have liked the game much better.

You know, I've always thought Final Fantasy has too many weapons. They really need to take out all of those and just leave "Sword" and "Stick," because having so many to pick from and upgrade just ruins the game.

I thinnk the most annoying thing is finding those low level weapons in the latter part of the game.

OMG PHAT LEWT! I wonder what it could be!

I'll bet it's tough being a completionist for totally optional things that are pure extras for people who want to put forth the effort to get bonuses. Do you also hate CT and CC for having multiple endings, since they're also totally optional bonuses only put in there for people who want to play over and over?

I hate the way CT did it, but I nevered really cared about the alternate endings. There was normal ending in CT and the Uber ending, I got both, never cared about the others.

I didn't go through CC a second time, so I didn't care. Basically, I am saying that I only care if it is part of the core game. And more often than not, I get angry at myself, like when I didn't do the vampire quest in Valkyrie Profile properly.

My problem with VP was that it just overwhelmed me with the decisions I had to make. I wasn't sure on what to do with what characters, as far as abilities and sending them on, so I just stopped playing. I am about to give it another go though, so we'll see what happens.

The characters look pretty basic, nothing really jumped out like Chrono Trigger's art. Still it seems to held in high favor, I think I'll try it.

Probably keep Final Fantasy 9 or Persona 2. I picked up the Final Fantasy 9 artbook when the game was released and it does look like something I'd enjoy (as opposed to 8 or 10).

    Thanks for the responses. *-neo
