Kids very often have silly, nonsensical and irrational fears. That's just part of being a child.

What a parent must do, or rather I should say and effective parent, is teach the child that their fear is silly and completely manageable. A child should be taught to overcome their fears, not have them hidden just because mommy wants to protect them.

Exactly. Parents around my neighborhood coddle their children to the point of idiocy, and then let them run off for their 'freedoms' when hitting adlolescense (sp?). Am I the only one seeing a problem with this?
