Fucking awesome. I love hiking up mountains like that. Granted, I've never done something that steep. I bet the view from the top was breathtaking.
I've been in Japan a while and never got to see Fuji-san up-close. Yesterday, I made my first climb. While I didn't climb the entire height of the mountain, (most travelers start at Station 5 which is about halfway up), I did make it to the the top. I've never been in so much pain in my life, but hey, it was fun.
And now, for our feature presentation...

Wow, props. I've heard it can be a challenge. I'd love to have the chance one day to head there and give it a shot.

That is seriously awesome. Why did you decide to go do that?

There's this saying around here that goes "If you haven't climbed Fuji, you haven't been to Japan!". I figured I would at least try it once and get the 'souvenir walking stick' and the stamps from each resting point. Seeing as I might have to leave here sometime later, I thought it would be nice to have memories beyond Shibuya and Akihabara.Originally Posted by M

Now thats something to tell the grandkids.
How high up is Fuji by the way?
12,395 feet, or 3,776 meters for you metric folks.Originally Posted by Jetman
I've seen Mt. Fuji... from a long, long distance. (The summit of Mt. Hakone.)
