Hopefully this is REALLY early. The 2D backgrounds in RF2 were amazing, I am certainly not getting that vibe here. I know this is a sequel to Raiden II, but after owning RF2, going back to two ships just seems like a step back. =/

Overall I'm not as excited as I feel like I should be.

Really, it's just one ship. It's not like the red one and the blue one are different.

But yeah, I'm not chalking it up to lack of programming skills. Gigawing 2 was a great looking game. Generations looks like a step down. I don't know how hot this hardware is.

But hey, at least it'll mean a solid port is easier than one would expect from the specs. I don't really care about the graphics. If it plays like Raiden, I'll be happy.

I know you know this (probably) but others do not so I might as well mention prior to the questions/confusion. Raiden Fighters (1/2/Jet) were not ever intended to be in the Raiden Series at all. You can tell because of the more manic style (no Raiden 1/2 were not manic) and the original name was Gun Dogs (IIRC). The developers decided to ride on the coat tales of the Raiden namesake. None the less I prefer the RF series and would have loved a RFIII more than RIII.

Yeah, I knew about that. I just can't help wanting a new RF instead. It would give me the chance to have a home port. RF games rock so much, but so many people will never get the chance to try them out. Just sucks.

I love the Raiden Fighters series more than Raiden as well, but that doesn't change the fact that Raiden II was an awesome game and I'm pumped for this. If there was a RF3 also coming out, I'd be more excited about that, but until then, this will do quite nicely.

From the blurry pic it looks fine, but so far it doesn't seem like anything an Xbox or PS2 cannot handle. I doubt that developers realize the Type-X's full potential just yet. But the gameplay's the thing.

If this turns out to be a hit- well, I think we MAY well see a Raiden Fighters 3.

I really hope they take the debris effect to the next level (no pun intended). That was always the coolest part of Raiden II, watching all the tiny pieces of wreckage scale to the ground & make poofs of dust, splashes in the water or destroy houses or buildings.

It would be awesome if they took the 3D engine & really ran with that concept. I'd love to shoot down a larger flying enemy, watch it sail to the ground, take out a couple of buildings & watch the buildings get damaged/demolished in realtime, with semi-accurate physics. It would also be cool if the falling ships did damage to ground & water based enemies, have them kamakazi into their own ships. That would be really cool.
