Thread: This looks like the end...

  1. Heh I think waiting for a bundle/price reduction is a good idea plus owning all the systems is beginning to be a hassle cause there are only a couple of really good exclusive games.

Most people dont buy an RF adapter because they want to play their PS2 when they go to their grandma's house. They buy it because they need it to play their system.

Most people look at their television like an appliance, as long as its still outputting a picture and can change the channel it works fine and doesnt need to be replaced.

Of course, this was probably very true, until about 1997, when DVD made its debut. And then you got flat-screen VAIOS coming out with a great picture quality (for its time), progressive scan, HDTV is taking off, videogame consoles are outputting amazing graphics at high resolutions, and the successor to DVD is already on the horizon.

People just need to upgrade their fucking TVs.

  3. Shut your rich ass up...did it ever occur to you that some people might not have the money for that???

Videogame consoles nowadays are $150, and games are $50 apiece.

You can buy a very, very good TV nowadays for $250 with s-video. S-video aint great but its a shitload better than RF or composite.

There's no fucking excuse. If you can buy a videogame console and games you can afford a TV that can do it justice. You gotta realize that I see people come into EB and spend $300-$400 on a system and accessories and top it off with an RF adapter. The mind boggles.

Oh, and you have to be the first person ever to call me rich in my entire life. Have to be.

  5. 250 bucks could feed a family in Ethiopia for quite a while it would be quite vain for me to use it on a TV.

Of course we play them, just not right away, there's no time see, what with being rich bastards and all.

  7. I don't have a lot of use with LCDs, but I have a DLP HDTV (widescreen), and eventually ALL TVs are gonna be HDTV, so I can see why people should upgrade... but on the other hand I can see why they may want to wait to buy a new TV. No one wants to spend $250 now on a TV that will be next to worthless in a couple years.

This phrase just goes beyond reason of posting in a gaming related forum.

Heck you can pick up a 19" with Composite inputs for $100, even less around the hollidays.

But its not just people with old TVs. Its people who dont take 2 seconds to know any better. I used to do satelite TV install work, and a lot of it was cleaning up other people's messes, and I couldn't even count the number of times I would see a High end TV hooked up to a satelite reciever with RF.

And 99% of the people who had Stereo Hi-Fi VCRS almost always had them hooked up RF as well, essentually wasting $100 (they were expensive at the time)you spent to get stereo, only to hook it up to your TV in a way that only works Mono.
