my buddy has a tv with s-video jacks. yet he runs his xbox thru the rf. i cant stand playing on his tv when i know the s-video is free to use. he just refuses to buy a cable. this.....is just sad.Originally Posted by Wildkat
It will hardly be worthless. 90% of people out there get thier TV via Satellite or Cable, which need a set-top box to operate anyways.Originally Posted by TobalRox
Those who get thier TV over the air, will be able to get a cheap 8VSB tuner that will output a nice crisp, down converted signal.
TV stations are being mandated to TRANSMIT in DIGITAL.
This doesnt effect cable or satelite at all, nor does it mean all of a sudden there are going to be oodles of HDTV programming. It just means, the old rabit ears may need a little more help.

I agree, I would buy more games if that was the case. Some of us have a life you know!Originally Posted by Cheebs

I have cable, and don't have a set-top box, it just hooks right into the TV. Of course, when it comes to digital, than yes, it needs it. But my point is that this box will need something better than RF if people want HD programming. Getting an HDTV now is the equivilant of getting a color TV before... it's not required, but eventually everone will have one, and people hated buying "brand new" B&Ws when there was color becoming more prominant.Originally Posted by Wildkat
This is ridiculous since he had to spend extra for the RF>.... but if it bugs you so much, why don't you spring the $15?Originally Posted by Dragonmaster Dyne

In all due time, HDTV will be the standard, but as of now, it is still a bit pricey to get a decent HDTV and it isn't exactly a necesity unless you are a graphics whore. I have a nice 36" or something TV, sure it isn't HD, but I don't need to go waste $400 up to $1000 dollars on a new one just because it has a better picture. For those of you that do have HDTV, congrats, I'd like to eventualy have one some day, but for now I just don't need to be throwing away that kind of cash when there is other stuff that is more important.Originally Posted by TobalRox

If I didn't have a TV or needed to get a new TV then I would most definately get a HDTV. But sadly, thats not the case for me or many other people.Originally Posted by TobalRox

All I know is that RF counteracts like 10 years of graphic technology to make today's gorgeous games look like dogshit.
It should not be supported in the next gen systems. They would be utterly wasted on them. This gen's already are.
