Thread: NFL discussion

  1. It's official:

Not sure if it's the right thing to do - the offence sputtering is the O-line's fault far more than it was Warner's, and that fact might get Eli killed. Warner was taking shots on almost every play, even the passes he completed had him end up on his back. But I guess if you lose to the Lions, Bears and Cardinals in a span of 4 weeks, you've got to do something.

I live in a Giants/Bills household. And to me they're both the same team - They find a way to lose more often than they can find a way to win.

You are correct in that the O-line's problems are the biggest deal, but those injuries are hurting the G-men as well.

Eli=a pocket passer, so he's probably going to get hit as much as warner if they don't figure something out.

Tiki was on the radio saying "We're fine when they don't bring the pressure, but when they bring it we all crack." Apparently they practice plays under pressure all the time, but "On the field, I don't know. It's different to execute. And guys get nervous. We need to be able to complete some big passes too, otherwise teams aren't going to think twice about bringing pressure from the first play."

This is all true. I don't know what the hell they're going to do about it. Poor Tiki will have to covet his brother's ring for another long year.

How 'bout those Eagles? And those Steelers!

49ers are so bad it hurts.

I think it is. The Giants aren't going anywhere this season, so you might as well give him 7 games to get up to a level where he'll be able to deliver next season. Even if it isn't Warner's fault.

Up here in Seattle, everyone was upset that Holmgren put in Hasselbeck in place of Dilfer, but now it's obvious that that was a good move.

Yeah, Warner is not getting any better at this point and the Giants will be very lucky to make the playoffs. Let's see what Eli can do.

I agree. I think the Cowboys should do the same thing with Drew Henson, but Parcells seems to be adamently against it.

  6. Warner was pretty much horrible the last four weeks.

Lions Game: Threw a moronic interception at the end of the half in the endzone, Giants lost all the momentum in that one play.

Vikings Game: Constantly overthrew his recievers, had Shockey open without anybody around him yet overthrew him by five yards. Should have had two interceptions but the Vikings corners suck. Chavous so should had that interception in the end zone.

Bears Game: First Fumble was all on him(moronic play). The interception that almost killed Toomer was horrible(you don't lead a reciever into a hard-running safety). After that, the o-line collapsed as all the momentum had shifted.

Cardinals Game: Overthrew another Wide open Shockey(with nobody around him again). Honestly, his best game in the last four weeks, but he almost had Toomer killed again with one of his passes.

Warner holds on the ball, too god damn long. He can't throw beyond 15 yards now.

  7. Dallas eats shit. Parcells doesn't give a shit and I don't blame him.

I may be crucified for saying this, but part of me believes that everyone's just afraid of saying that he may be part of the problem, that guy is going around calling his team stupid in the press, hell even Madden said last night that testaverde and some others felt like Parcells placed a chip on their shoulders going into that game. I saw alot of suspect play calling in addition to the stupid turnovers and such. I'm just saying, as a coach he should MAN up and take some responsibility instead of blaming it on his team like a fucking big baby - I've already started to hate the guy because of that and I LOATHE the cowboys, but they dont deserve that kind of treatment. Fuck parcells, tuna my ass.

Anyway, they were playing the Eagles yesterday, what'd they expect?

I can understand the frustration, I don't like showboating players either BUT he is a good reciever that has some brilliant moments and eh... at least his celebrations are interesting. That being said I wouldn't wish injury on him... not even McNabb who I really don't like, (and yet I grit my teeth and applaud when he makes a great play like that 14.1 second 60 yard throw).

You know, Testaverde really isn't that big of a problem, he did relatively well last night, but like everyone pointed out Dallas has no defense and jesus fucking christ give Testaverde some protection.

  9. Testaverde's played alright, but I think elfneedsfood's point is that they aren't going anywhere this year and a 41 year old QB is not the future, so you might as well get Henson some playing time which he sorely needs after 3 (4?) years out of football.

Personally, I think if he's so bad in practice that he can't beat out Tony Romo for the backup spot they shouldn't play him.

  10. Yeah thats true, 3-6... the wildcard is almost gone unless they do a 180 so maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea, but like someone pointed out, Parcells won't go for it, he's stubborn and probably doesn't want to be shown up like that. It could be worse, they could be Miami.
