Pre-Terrell, Elway was 0-3 in the Super.
He caught 5 passes, for 66 yards and a touchdown. They lost!Originally Posted by Rich

Elway made it to the Super Bowl 4 times and the first 2 teams he took there really sucked. It wasn't until Elway got a solid running back and a defense behind him, that he could win the big one.Originally Posted by diffusionx

I definitely hear you, point is that Elway didnt get the respect he probably deserved until he won that ring. But unlike Elway, who yea did lack crucial elements, Manning has just choked in the playoffs.Marino only made it to the Superbowl once and lost to Montana and the 49'ers. Yep. I guess it means he wins.Makes one wonder why idiots like us even bother to respond, doesn't it? =P
Yoshi calls Brady a fraud like I call PoP an awful game--both exaggerations with truth to them to balance out the obvious overrated-ness. First of all, every QB has a team he struggles with. For Manning, it's NE. For Brady, is MIA. Secondly, Manning's smartest offensive mind on his team is himself. Brady's is Charlie Weis. Manning does twice the work. Thirdly (?), if Brady had to play his own defense, the score wouldn't be nearly as close as it is when Manning plays the Pats' defense. Fourthly (??), Manning didn't even choke in the playoffs last year. He came across a D that schemes well against him. I also think they got some favorable calls (or non-calls as they were).
Brady doesn't have as good of offensive PLAYERS around him, but he has better coaching and a much better defense to bail him out. And look at it this way--when Brady threw that pass on his back that was complete, almost everyone was like "OMG, he is so cool under pressure". And then he goes and does it again and it bites him on the butt like it should have the first time because it was absolute junk and he's lucky the DB wasn't looking.

Pittsburg kept momentum going into the playoffs, they'll have almost everyone healthy, they have a QB with ice in his veins as well, they have homefield, and they beat the hottest team in the NFL last week with their SECOND AND THIRD STRING, and I don't see how people are picking SAN DIEGO over the Steelers? And maybe people forget, but Brady loses games if you get any pressure whatsoever on him, they did go 9-7 2 years ago and missed the playoffs, but people seem to forget that, and what did they have? Oh yeah....INJURIES. I think Indy is taking them out this year, and Pittsburg will sack Manning repeatedly, he's not exactly the most mobile QB. Pittsburg over Philly in the bowl with their dominating D.
"and I don't see how people are picking SAN DIEGO over the Steelers"
Because in football, you only have to win one game. And since Drew Brees is a more mobile QB than Bledsoe, he's going to have more time to hit someone deep maybe twice in the game and that's all they are going to need.
I don't think San Diego has any playmaker receivers that the Steelers secondary can't handle though....they shut down Terrell Owens when they played the Eagles, and they stop the run better than any team, and that sets up their secondary to make plays. Plus, San Diego is a warm weather team, and I'm sure their record in the cold is not great.....
