kind of where i am too, like i said, i usualy like 3d platformers a lot, so for me to dislike one it has to work pretty hard at being nondescript. Its not actually a bad game, bad would be a descriptive feature, its one that a person might conceiveably play provided they beat scaler, blinx, blinx 2, ty, ty 2, all the jax's, all the rachet and clanx's, both sly coopers, alter echo(not really a platformer, but still close enough),rayman 3, whiplash, voodoo vince, vexx, and every other good-average platformer out there, because i have played all them to some degree of completion, and all were to some degree more enjoyable than my playtime with tork. if psychonauts dissapoints like this i will be bummed, because it also had a hype load, and looked really good.

Alter Echo is a unique game. I think it's pretty good, but I wouldn't call it a platformer. I would say it has light platforming elements.

scaler was a bargan bin game for x-box and ps2 where you played a kid, turned shape shifting blue lizard, in this reptillian altered dimension. the backgrounds and art were great, except for the actual characters which for soem reason became cheesy american cartoon style characters(giant upper torsos, squared chins, atrophied legs. its a solid but easy platformer with hideous cutscenes, a jet set radioish rail grinding mechanic, and some passable combat. the non "human" art reminded me a lot of panzer dragoon, and your character has kind of a loony toons fluidity to his movements awhich is good, but the bad "humanish" character art and dreadful vo's hurt it for me. a solid 6 at best, but fun in doses.

I finally got around to playing this and I actually like it. It's no Rayman 2 or Psychonauts, but the controls are great, I like the straightforward action-based true platformer approach, and it kinda feels like a 2D platformer in 3D. It's really pretty alright after all the bitching. Above average in the platformer world.
