Thread: Best handheld gaming platform (unofficial)

  1. Best handheld gaming platform (unofficial)

I figure before nintendoDS and PSP come out, we should vote on which handheld kicked ass for what it was worth.

So lets see what we can add to the table before we make this a poll.

    The Current List.

    GameGear
    Wanderswan
    Sega Nomad
    GameBoy/GameBoyAdvance
    TurboExpress/PC Engine GT
VirtuaBoy (I'm adding this sucker in)
    GAME.COM
    GP32 (yes this counts)
    Lynx
    Neo Geo Pocket

  2. Nomad, easily. Far too many classics to even count. The GBA comes in second, with the GG being third, and the NGPC being fourth, mainly due to my lack of time spent with the unit.

  3. I don't see how the nomad counts since it didn't really have it's own special library, just the entire Genesis library.

I could make a GBA joke here, but I'm too lazy.

And I'm going to vote for the GAME.COM. Oh yea.

  4. Nomad and TurboExpress/PC Engine GT draw from a home console's library, but they're still portable systems, so I guess they count. I wouldn't say Virtual Boy does, though.

Anyway, you're forgetting Neo Geo Pocket, and it was pretty damn slick.

  5. Virtual Boy!! I still play this sucker at least a few times a week, I guess I'm just a slave to the red and black color scheme.

    Yeah thanks for reminding me.

  7. GameBoy/GameBoyAdvance hands down.

The SP is all kinds of sexy and the library of games it plays is ginormus.

  8. I'd like to put GBA ahead for both metroids and pinball of the dead, but that's staying at no.2.

Nomad's library alone just butchers it.

  9. The Nomad had a great library, thanks to the Genesis, but I never found owning one to be very useful, considering how quickly it consumed 6 AAs. And it was extremely bulky. After a few weeks of novelty use, I never touched it again.

I'm sure owning a PC Engine GT would have been great, but they were always pretty expensive.

As an all-around package (price, size, functionality, battery life, game library), I'd have to go with the current: GBA SP.

    Followed closely by the NGPC.

  10. I would have got Bonk if that turboexpress wasn't so damn expensive.

Gonna start the vote on this after work tomorrow so I'll need a little help getting in whats left over.

    Limit is still 7 correct?
