"September 24, 2004 - We have an exclusive look at the trailer for Jet Li's Unleashed for ya today! In a recent interview with IGN FilmForce, Li called the film "a different kind of martial arts movie."


Li's character, Danny, has lived his whole life as a slave and has no adult education. He told us, "My character is mentally only ten years old, but physically fares well. He can beat up a lot of people in a few seconds. But he doesn't understand life. He doesn't have friends, he doesn't have family. ... So I meet Morgan Freeman's character. He's a piano tuner and he [introduces me to] music. And his music brings me back. [Helps me] become normal person. I feel the friendship, I feel the love, I feel the family. And I become a normal person. That is the whole story."

Wait! What about the martial arts? Rest assured there's plenty of that. Danny had been cruelly raised by his master, Bart (Bob Hoskins), to be a fighter in illegal fight clubs, where he makes a bank as the undisputed champion. When Bart is incapacitated after a car accident, Danny is taken in by a blind piano tuner (Morgan Freeman) who is being pursued by some bad guys after learning a dangerous secret. And that's where the fisticuffs come in!

Louis Leterrier (The Transporter, Asterix & Obelix) directed the film. Luc Besson produced and co-wrote the screenplay with Robert Mark Kamen (The Transporter, Kiss the Dragon, The Fifth Element)."

Hmm, I dont know about name change, since Unleahsed sound very generic, and Danny the Dog was a bit better, but otherwise it looks great. Looks much more story driven and dramatic, than most of Li's other US films, and its coming from people behind Kiss of the Dragon, which was great. Plus Yuen Woo-Ping does MA choreography, and what can be seen in the trailer looks quite promising.

Funny, when you mentioned it was called Unleashed the very first thing that popped into my head was hearing the trailer announcer go "Jet Li is... UNLEASHED!"

Thank god they changed the name. "Unleashed" may be generic and Hollywood sounding, but it's better than "Danny the Dog".

Massive Attack music video showcasing some of the fight sequences in the film. What can I say.... badass. Jet working with Woo-Ping and bringing to us his most brutal fighting since Kiss of the Dragon, if not ever.

Ive seen the trailer twice, and I must say that this might end up being the worst movie ever released. I dont understand Morgan Freeman, he's an amazing actor who does amazing work in amazing films but then does stupid garbage like Kiss the Girls or this. As for Jet Li... come on.
