Thread: Lumines: Attempt 2

  1. Lumines: Attempt 2

The board ate my last thread so here we go again:

Lumines was unveiled this week as a launch title for PSP. It's Tetsuya Mizuguchi's fist outing since leaving Sega when UGA was merged out of existance. It's apparently "the rez of puzzle games" with elaborate audio presentation that greates a multi-layered soundtrack based on the player's actions. IGN has written a very favorable write-up on the game, and I'm excited.

This seems like the kind of thing I could get alot of mileage out of. I could easily see myself grooving to this game with a pair of headphones on while I'm out and about. It's supposed to be some like some sort of combination of Rez, Amplitude, and Tetris, and that sounds enticing to me. Anyone else looking forward to this or am I the only one who still enjoys a good puzzler?

Unfortunately, those two things don't encompass the whole population. I love a good puzzler, but am not going to be shelling out over 300 bucks for it. Sounds pretty fun though.

  3. I'd love to play this game, but with the PSP launch price at $350 it ain't gonna happen. I'm digging the game's style.

  4. Screw the launch price, screw the PSP. It looks like a cool game. If I get a PSP it'll be one of the first I pick up. It's not fair to judge a handheld puzzle game based on the cost of the platform.

I'm interested. Hopefully Mizuguchi has gathered some people as talented as those UGA had.

But when you need the platform to play said puzzle game, the two kind of intertwine.

This may be the best fucking puzzle game in 15 years, but if I have to spend 300-350 to play it, nope, not happening.

  7. No one's gonna buy a PSP just for this game. Even if he/she does, he/she will quickly realize that there will be hundreds of games for PSP soon. I think it's a win/win situation.

BTW Lumines: Attempt 2 looks awesome and I'm gonna import it as soon as possible.

LOL!! Look what you did, Frog.

EDIT: he just called it attempt 2 because the board ate his first attempt at a thread... that's not the game's subtitle =P

Just like the PS2 launch with Fantavision.

Looks interesting, I'll pick it up whenever I get around to getting a PSP.
