I'm pretty sure you need to beat the campaign mode before you can unlock the new CO's for the War Room. Colin was introduced in AW2, so he doesn't count.

  2. Nah, once you beat mission 22 you can buy Sasha and like 3 other COs in Hachi's shop. Mission 22 was a bitch though, good luck with that.

Does anyone have any tips for mission 24? I haven't even tried it yet because it looks really complex.

It's pretty brutal. I started off the blue army with Javier because he has increased resistance to indirect fire, and I equipped him with the snipe guard skill. You'll need both to survive the initial nuking you take from their rockets, artillery and the battleship they have shelling you from behind their front line. Try to keep as many units as you can towarsds the back of the forest until the rockets are gone. I backed him up with Sensei - once you've taken out their long range units, take over the airport and start pumping out helicopters. By this time you should have enough for a tag super, and Sensei's is the best. As long as you haven't lost any cities, this should give you a nice wave of mech troops to replace the units you lost taking out the rockets.

For the orange army, I started them off with Hawke, and backed them up with Sonja - believe me, you'll need her extra vision. Try to have the units you start off with move north to join up with the blue army. They'll need the support to avoid getting gangbanged when black hole moves their Megatank and reserve units into position. Try and take out all their anti-air units on the way so Sensei's copters don't get shot down. Pump out tanks from the orange bases to protect the HQ and defend against the southern wave of black hole. Send some troops along behind them to take the communications towers and cities down there. And finally, play defensively with your naval units. Otherwise Drake will demolish them - he has a major edge attacking in the water.

Like I said, the mission's tough, but not impossible by any means.

  4. I just beat mission 22. A total bitch, because one small screw up, and you're done - but it was really satisfying to do it. Indeed, unlocked Sasha and two others, but damnit I want to unlock Lash so I can build her up and get her alternate outfit. *heh*

Ah, I was actually talking about the one with the volcano, but that mission was pretty tough too. I did it pretty differently than you though.

For the blue army, I chose Max with +1 Vision, +20% Attack in Rain, +12% Indirect Defense, and Woods Movement = 1. Made it a helluva lot easier to clear out all of those rockets on the first turn. Of course, I could only do this cuz I leveled the hell out of Max from Turn Survival.

For the red army, I used Sami to mech rush the little peninsula with the com towers on it. Her Super CO power is insanely helpful at times. Those helped a lot in defense against the battleships. After that, I pretty much pumped out Neotanks and Megatanks and battled upward, slowly capturing properties with Sami along the way. I found it easier just to stay away from the coastline; all my naval units just got raped by Drake so it seemed like a lost cause.

Pretty cool how differently we took on the mission.

I'm on the last mission now. God I love this game so much.

EDIT: Victrix, go back and play AW1. Dual Strike seemed a little overwhelming because all the new shit they added, at first. Playing the original will probably help you ease into AWDS and let you appreciate it more.

EDIT Pt 2: How the heck do you unlock the Star Skills?

  7. It's not that, I love this style of game, and play simple (Fire Emblem) and complex (Tactics Ogre, various pc titles) versions of the same game, but for some reason I can't get into AW I even played the original japanese version wayyyyyy the fuck back when on the old Gameboy and liked it then!

I only own AW1 for this reason, because I figured buying 2 or DS would be sorta pointless if I wasn't going to finish the first one.

But like I said, I enjoy the style of game, I think AW has great mechanics, but I can't get into it I'm fucking broken!

  8. That sucks man, you're missing out.

Just beat the last mission, which was a fuck of a lot easier than the second to last. Hard Campaign is going to be a bitch, but it's a bit easier than the Advance Campaign. I could never beat the first mission of AC in AW1, so that's a relief.

  9. Some impressions

    - I haven't taken a likening to the new characters, Rachel is nice sometimes since her supers are easy to fill up and I like to combo her with Max for a smash feast. Von Bolt comes of like a wimp compared to Sturm and I hate Jakes guts (nice music though). I hope they give Hawke the main bad guy role next time btw.

    - I liked the story of the previous ones but this one was a bit meh, campaign is to easy as well. The final mission was criminaly easy compared to part 2. All in all the maps seem a little less memorable than before but maybe that's because I haven't played it that much. Some bigger maps would have been nice though.

    - I love how the game keeps track of pretty much every thing you do and collecting medals is such a blast. Got somewhere around 170 right now.

-I like the two front system but why in gods name did they force those awful auto Co's on us?

    - The new units are cool and a welcome addition, though I mostly just build blackboats and stealths.

    more later I guess..

  10. i want this...god damn lack of money
