Thread: XBOX 2 and PS3 in 2005?

  1. #11
I'm all for them coming in 2005. I haven't been impressed with a console game in 2004, so let's see what the next generation can do.

Except Bungie would need to be working on the game already now that they've finished Halo 2. I need to find my source, but I read recently that Bungie will not be working on Halo 3 as their next game. They want to work on a new property, and possible a new genre.

Perfect Dark Zero, maybe? That would be kinda cool, if they did it up right.

  4. MS is trying to get a head star over sony by launching their next system in 2005 and thats what nintendo is also tryin to do which might help them in turning the table around , the good thing is that all 3 companies must have AAA games on the launch of the systems orelse they wont sell shit

  5. I don't believe this news. At all. Microsoft's about to launch their biggest game ever, sequel to a game that's been in the overtall top ten for three years straight, about to sell more Xbox Live subscriptions than they've ever dreamed of, and they're going to toss that out and get barely a single year's mileage out of it?

We're going to see a new system, in a year, but we haven't seen any screenshots (unless you count the PC based Elder Scrolls IV and some fmv), heard of any major development projects, or seen any absurd tech demos promising the sky? Heck, is there even a real dev kit yet?

Folks, that's not a Microsoft launch. That's the Saturn launch. EA's working off some bad info.

That's a Microsoft launch when they are trying not to cut into their current Xbox sales. Remember, MS had nothing to lose from pumping out Xbox bullshit a year ahead of time. They do now.

You haven't heard me then. The sooner, the better. Every time I play and love a game on PS2, Xbox, or GameCube, I play it and know that it could have been so much better on better hardware.

No, of course, the next generation of systems aren't going to be the end-all of game hardware. But I think that starting with the next generation of consoles, 3D games will finally start to have the chance to get serious about doing what they want to do. At least, I'm hoping so.

Well they're going to have to show it at E3, by which point Halo 2, a bonifide system seller, will have been out all of 6 months. There's no way for them not to cut into their success and overshadow that. Even if the system's backwards compatible and Live subscriptions can carry over (and I'm sure that'll be the case).

This will be their biggest product launch to date. When have you known them to launch a major product without spending massive amounts of time and money ramming it into the public consciousness?

This thing comes out in 2005 like Halo 2 was a lock for 2003.

Thanks for the info I'm happy either way. There is a ton of games left to come out that will be good on this gen systems, but late 2005 would be right on time as usuall.

I did read somewhere that they will show the next gen systems at next E3. It follows the same pattern, sometime after the holidays the current systems will fall in price to $99.00 when this happens that's a damn good clue that this new news is true.

Well, Sony and Nintendo have already promised to show their consoles at E3. MS would stupid to not do the same. BTW, I love how this thread further proves that Halo is the only system seller the Xbox has.
