Thread: Japan sucks

    Blatant Heresy! HERETIC!

Majora's Mask, IMO, is the lowest point of the Zelda franchise only surpassed in stupidity by the Philips CD-i games. But, again, we're all just stating our opinions so there's really no right or wrong.

As far as Japan sucking, I wouldn't know, I don't know the island personally. I do know it has a lovely collection of Ice Hoes.
    Time for a change

Then the question becomes what is the best quality sample to determine whether or not a game is good. You're saying the mags sucks, the websites/fansites suck, and that TNL'ers are overly critical of the games to begin with. I think magazine reviews, as pandering as they might be (something I strived NOT to do, btw), are probably the best measure (or sample) by which to judge a game other than independent polling of random samples of people that have played the game.

In the end, however, it all matters not because it's STILL an opinion and always will be. I'd put OOT in the top 50 of the 90's, in any event and certainly above sequel-ware like Baldur's Gate 2.

Nope. I'll take Majora's Mask over KOTOR anyday. I honestly don't understand the appeal of KOTOR one bit. Shitty graphics, shitty production values, shitty combat, shitty controls, shitty animation... That's supposed to be GOTY material? I'm alive in a very sad world.

I'm pretty sure advertising doesn't work this way. Guaranteed that commercial ran a couple of times during peak hours, unless you watched the entire day. EA his a mega corp with large resources including a marketting division and demographics. They know what they have to do in order to properly advertise their product over some guy on the internet (not you, Thief, specifically).

There are game Billboards in Toronto. Maybe you have to be in a big city to see them.

But who told you the game industry was as big as the movie industry? The gaming industry makes more annually than the movies draw at the box office. That doesn't factor in popcorn and snack at the movies, DVD sales, VHS sales, and posters or advertising merchandising. The game industry is big, but not that big. Considering that most commercials filmed for the game industry count go towards the film industry's finances too.

    And Splinter Cell.

You and diffusionX are two sides of the same coin. You're both idiots who preach their opinion as though it is solid. Let me fill you in on something, genius, you're not a measuring stick. Games aren't measured in greatness by you. The same could be said to diffusionX, but I happen to agree that Japan is stagnant right now.

My god Sega puts invisible walls in EVERYTHING they do. They'll design a huge massive cityscape and allow you to play in 5% of it.

But that's not the case. People aren't saying OOT is great because reviews are, people are saying OOT is great because they've played it themselves and think it was awesome. Besides, your big complaint with Majora's Mask (which was boring), and Wind Waker was the fact that, aside from a new gimmick (mask, baton), they were pretty much just glorified upgrades to OOT.

When OOT came out it was fresh and fun. Now, not so much. I think it was like that when Vice City came out. I had played GTA 3 so much that in Vice City all I did was slice people up with helicopter blades and try to do cool jumps and stunt on the motorcycle.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I, on the other hand believe everything you just said applies to Majora's Mask, and KOTOR deserves every accolade given to it. Although they really need to revamp item management in KOTOR.

Would you like to sign the petition to get me to add "In my opinion..." / "I think..." / "I believe..." / "I feel..." to the beginning of all my statements that relate to opinion? You wouldn't be the first, I assure you.

Or you could just assume that, just like everyone else, anything I say not relating to rocks and numbers is obviously opinion, no matter how convincingly I word it or how brilliant I may seem.

    I didn't realize 86% was a bad score.

I don't really have a stance on the issue besides both diffX and MarkRyan being idiots. They're so blinded in their hatred for games built in certain areas that they deny themselves truth. OOT and KOTOR are both excellent games. I didn't even think it was possible for anybody to think either of them bad, especially citing production values as the reason why. The cutscene and voice acting in KOTOR is the best in any videogame I've ever played (and yes, I've played a lot. I know somebody would point that out to be dumb). OOT had groundbreaking gameplay (the use of the four buttons being displayed to inform you of your gameplay choices, the ability to effect the game in massive ways (weather, day or night).

    Borderline idiocy.

Your opinion? You're saying that everyone else is wrong that a game is good. That is not your opinion. You're saying that somebody else is wrong for liking something and stating, like it is fact, that a game is bad.

The difference between you in diff, which I've just pinpointed, is that atleast he admits he's totting his opinion like cannon-law. And to that avail it's kind of funny.

Not when you're not just saying your opinion but telling others they're wrong in liking something like KOTOR or Jade Empire over games like Metroid Prime 2 and the new Zelda.

Exactly, Majora's Mask was terrible in just about every respect. How anyone could possibly compare it to KOTOR simply astounds me.

The world is not right because you say so? Case closed.
