I really only enjoy holding Texas and occasionally a couple other variants.
And always no limit...always.
My friends and I have been playing weekly games of poker. Nothing big, ten bucks to get in and a typical bet is 10 cents (50 cent max). I've never played before and always assumed poker was boring. It's not at all, it fucking rocks.
There's a million variations you can play and they're all very simple. But being able to read your opponent, use probability to your advantage, figure out the best possible hand at the given moment and compare it to yours, bluff, read bluffs, use your history for the night to your advantage, do something you normally don't do to keep your opponents guessing on just what your play style is, learn the tendencies for each game (like in anaconda flushes are common) etc. There's so much strategy, it's a total blast. Highly recommended.

I've considered going to a Gambler's Anonymous meeting. I've lost far too much money playing in big tournies. I lost a good $350 on PartyPoker. I'm really good playing in person, but as the tournaments get larger, my chances of winning diminish, and I'm also a cash game player while all my friends play tourny so it's hard to win as easily as it is in tourny.
As for my favorite--I love Omaha but of coarse people only play Hold 'Em
A great game I once played is a mix between strip poker and shots.
You each have shot glasses and you ante up and raise with shots. Keep a glass for each person and pour each bet into it. Whoever wins the pot wins immunity. Everyone who loses either has to drink their shots or give up an article of clothing. If you fold, you drink what you have in your glass at that time. If you’ve ran out of clothes and don’t want to drink, you have to perform oral sex on the winner.
Be sure to bring your own liquor (it's no fun puking from something you're not used to) and a funnel for when you pussy out and give up your clothes.
It's also a good idea to switch from liquor to beer after the first couple hands. You don't want the chicks to pass out before their naked.![]()

I don't really like hold em, I find it dull. I like seven card stud and all the variants on it the most I think. Follow the Queen can be a lot of fun (7 card stud where all Queens are wild and anytime a queen shows up the next card delt is also wild, negating any previous wilds formed this way)
I prefer 5 card stud. Too many wilds become too ridiculous.

Uh no. Apparently you don't realize that a tourny isn't a "big game" and cash games can be just as monetarily rewarding. Why do you feel the need to be such an asshole when you have absolutely no place in this thread? Why shit on it if you have nothing to add?Originally Posted by diffusionx

Follow the Queen is good stuff. My favorite poker game ever, though, is blind baseball though I'm sure there's different names for it.Originally Posted by lithium
Dealt 5 or 7 cards blind.
3 is wild if you pay(match) the pot and all 3s for you are then wild after. If you don't pay, no 3s are wild that game.
4 is an extra card, dealt down as it's a blind game.
9 is always wild.
First person turns a card. Second person turns a card and keeps turning until he beats the person before him. Third has to beat 2cd and so on until you run out of cards. Betting after every person's turn. Games can get pretty expensive with alot of people goin' around.
