was it bs in rotj when vader threw his saber at the support on the walkway luke was on, causing it to break?Originally Posted by Mzo
we don't know how lightsabers work. Like how the fuck do they make light just stop at 4 feet, or have enough substance to bounce off of each other. You don't know. It's just how they work.Originally Posted by Mzo

Those it matter? We know the most important thing about them. If your sliced up by one you turn into a ghost:P
At the end of RotS, Yoda tells Obi-Wan that he has training for him while he's in exile. Supposedly he shows him the basics before they part ways, and Obi-Wan then goes on to speak with Qui-Gon on Tatooine and learn the secret.Originally Posted by Melf
Well, considering it was only there for a split second I doubt it had time to sink.Originally Posted by Mzo

Whatever, dude. I personally have no idea how one would make the duel in RoTS anymore exciting or emotionally involved than it already was. At this point it's your personal pref of the OT duels over the prequels' fights and that's fine. I will also never forget the look on Hayden Christianson's face as he screamed "I HATE YOU!!!" at Obi Wan. 10X better emotion than NOOOOOO! crazy Luke-monkey face in ESB (not that Hamil didn't deliver one amazingly disturbed face in that scene)Quote:

It didn't look any different than any robot seen in the entire series either. Sheesh.
Cowutopia: No, it didn't ruin the duel for me, the duel was already boring and shitty. I think I've expressed that opinion several times. There wasn't the same emotional feeling behind the duel as the one in eps V or VI. It was flashy martial arts and some kicks to the face. The best moment in my opinion was when they both tried force push at the same time and were straining against each other.
That didn't need to be established, either. You see the robots mining in previous shots.
It's just an example of how the gimmicks of the old trilogy were executed much better than the gimmicks of the new trilogy.
And why does the duel being fast paced martial arts/kendo take away from the emotional layer? It's a whole other era, not just in terms of martial arts choreography in movies, but in the story's era itself: the Jedi are at the heaight of their ability at the time, so you can't have the central characters fighting slowly like Luke and Vader which was disabled old man in bionic suit vs his powerful albeit-newbie son.

Saw it yesterday. I'm surprised, but I actually liked it.
I stopped snickering and started enjoying it when they slaughtered the Jedis.
Yeah, that was cool. The best moment in my opinion was when they both tried force push at the same time and were straining against each other.IIRC he tossed it like a boomerang, it didn't stick into something and stay there. Two different things.Originally Posted by cka
And since I never got around to rating them like all the cool kids did earlier:
V/VI (I actually prefer VI but the Ewoks are bullshit and the added Honeycomb scene is the worst added scene to any film in motion picture history.)
III (When Anakin got pissed at the end he made up for all his shortcomings in the previous two flicks.)
IV
II
