Ok how bout this one who would Darth Vader or a hurricane....and the hurricanes name is Darth Vader
Over a 7 day period I watched all of these movies. The old trilogy has just as many cringe inducing moments as the new one. Well... maybe not quite as many.
I never thought of Vader as a tragic character before. I don't know if thats good or bad. I totally got something different out of the old trilogy this time around.
Episode IV doesn't really work. I don't know how to explain it. It just totally doesn't work at all.
The Emperor is spot on through all the movies he is in. Totally seems like the same guy. To the point of it being creepy.

It IS the same guy. Holy fuck. And Episode 4 never worked, it just had some really cool scenes at the beginning and end.
Then I feel better. And I also feel confused, I remember hearing, or reading a debate involving vaginas exploding, and the emperor. Actors names were tossed about, and feelings may have been hurt.
Point being: Man, episode IV really is not a good movie. How did I fool myself for such a long time?
Some people (idiots mainly) were under the impression that Senator Palpatine had no relation to Darth Sidious. In fact, they found it to be spoiler worthy to match up the actor's names.
