That sounds about right. I heard 10-15 minutes. I also heard, but don't know if its true, that Anakin's last words to Obi-Wan are "I hate you."

    Ouch.

And let's hope Lucas didn't trim too much out of the duel.

Oh, that is gonna weird. Ralph voice: "Daddy, why is Padme bald and making out with Agent Smith?"

And I know you're psyched and want to read any latest news and reviews you can on Episode 3, but not everyone is going to like this thing. Not everyone will get it. It's always interesting to read other opinions, just make sure you have some of your own...I'd never ask a friend of mine who plays nothing but sports games (Madden, all of the ESPN,series, etc.) what he thinks of the latest Final Fantasy game and vice versa. People just have different tastes.
I know, believe me I see the flaws in the prequels. I just maybe went a little over the top in my hate of Traver's reviewing style. I am serious when I say have not liked him or the way he reviews for several years now. He comes off as a MST trying to hip and it just doesn't work. I know when the MST "Film Crew" (as Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett call themselves now) will rip Ep 3 a new one.

But Travers is not supposed to be a comedic writer, he is a movie reviewer. For all his sarcasm, as an example, Nelson gushes over Jackie Chan as his favorite modern movie star and his favorite show is Andy Griffith. Travers doesn't seem to have this sort of "let-go when needed" mentality. And I do not like the fact he basically puts Ep 3 on the same level he does TPM, saying we should go in as "kiddies drinking kool aid," never mind the fact any kids that go to it will see Anakin burned to a crisp. He acts like the movie is not to be taken seriously at all and if I was an uninformed reader, I would think based on his writing that the movie is only for children much like TPM admittedly was in some parts.

When I want a movie broken down coherently I don't want to hear someone spout off about the director's "agenda" to "brainwash" us which is Traver's pathetic explanation for why he thinks we enjoy the movies so much. Otherwise I just think the reviewer is biased himself and has an petty beef against said director.

On that same token, I don't like it when one of the Ep 3 reviewers says "Believe the hype! Star Wars is back!" Again, balance.

  3. Kenneth Travers, like everyone else at Rolling Stone, has been so fucking far gone for years. The guy is a horrible reviewer, a bitter crust of a human being. Im not one of those people who think a crap movie like Kingdom of Heaven or XXX is good if you just go in and shut your brain off or whatever (basically, a bad movie is a bad movie), but even so, Travers is stupid and ridiculous.

I dont know why anyone values anything written in Rolling Stone anymore.

  4. ^^^

Yeah, Travers said he really liked XXX because "it's hard to hate a movie that knows how to laugh at itself." Apparently he doesn't know the difference between self referential humor and just plain laughable period.

  5. Spoiler question for anyone who knows what has been kept in the final cut:

OK it would seem a no-brainer that Aayla Secura dies. But at the Celebration III show, theforce.net spoke with Amy Allen and she said: ...that Aayla does not die and will be one of, if not *the* character the new series will focus on. Hey, Aayla is smokin' green cuteness, I am alll for it. But while on my lunch break i was skimming quickly through issue 4 of the Dark Horse and she is shot in the back by a clone trooper. But I'm assuming if what Allen said is true, Lucas could have easily cut her death scene.

I heard she is one of the few Jedi that survives. I believe that because in the 17 years b/w III and IV, Vader hunts down the last of the order, so he has to have some of the last Jedi to wipe out for good. He can't destroy all of them in III because they are spread throughout the galaxy, and im sure there's a good chance that some of them will escape the clones.
