Thread: Games now are better than ever

  1. This argument is moot anyhow. Everybody knows that Chrono Trigger is, and will always be, the greatest game ever!!

This place is going to turn into GameFAQs.

Streets of Rage is not that good.

I think Die Hard Arcade was better than SoR.

I was the first one to point this out with a "Gamefaqs?" posts, which was immediatly responded to by Ironplant saying: "Gamefaqs?" thus proving my theory to be true.

Its not even the best game in the series.

Lament of Innocence sucked because Iga clearly rushed it out before it was done.
Melf, who is proving himself more foolish by the day, used the example of Castlevania to state why newer games are not necessarilly as good as older games. Well, there's a reason why the new Castlevania sucked, and its not because of some inherent flaws in 3D or whatever, its because Konami sucks ass now and they make shit games. But nowadays, Id happily play Devil May Cry (the first one) or Ninja Gaiden over SOTN, and Id DEFINITELY take it over the crappy GBA ones.

Guess what? I got bored with the crap soon after I bought it.
Yea, that tells me all I need to know about your opinion in games.

The string cheese I just ate is funnier. It has more material.
Yet you follow me around, and reply to my every post. You are my original TNL stalker (the 2nd was Jeremy). Never forget that, sweet cheeks.

... where diff and i disagree is that old games are inherently worse, games like actraiser, soul blazer, and demons quest(and yoshi's island of course) show a balance of art, gameplay, and atmosphere that i havent seen really happen in this generation yet.
I dunno about that man. There's been a lot of games Ive played this generation - Warcraft 3, GTA3, Half-Life/TFC/CS, Project Gotham 1 & 2, Ridge Racer V, Chrono Cross, Max Payne, even Jet Grind Radio back in the day - that all have this sublime sort of feel where everything synchronizes, and it becomes completely immersive and awesome. It's kinda hard to explain but its definitely the high point of videogames as I see it (and with the exception of Super Metroid games never reached that high level of kick-assedness in 16-bit). The orgasm of gaming, so to speak.

I liked Chrono Cross, but it had too many characters I didn't give a shit about. Chrono Trigger had a better story.

He went with the ever popular "I got owned but I'm so full of my pride that I won't admit it or respond" reply.

I have to say, I'm kind of impressed.

I'm foolish for not agreeing with you? I'm happy to disappoint you.

Just because Nintendo shat on your memories doesn't mean everything before 1990 sucks now.

As for the new beat-em-ups, I think that dungeon crawlers like Dark Alliance and Champions of Norrath are more like the evolution of hack-'n-slashers like Golden Axe, rather than SoR. The beat-'em-ups don't really have an accurate modern day representative that I can think of and I really don't want to lump games like Zombie Revenge and Die Hard Arcade into that category (though they might very well be the only ones left).
