Keep in mind, Port, there are 2 different 'monsters'.
There is the thing on the beach, the black nipple nano-whatever.
Then there is the tall, mechnanical Pilot Eating Thing. Locke ran into the 2nd one in the forest, hence the "The Island Showed Itself To Me".
It would seem odd for both to be controlled by the same source, I think. One is likely controlled by the Magnet.
"But now that we know The Others were after Walt, what do you think Ethan wanted with Claire? Do you think he was with The Others, or did he just want HER and not necessarily the baby to appease whatever it is that The Others want?"
I think it's like Rousseau, they wanted the kid, then determined it was the wrong kid. They need the kid with Teh Shining, aka Walt.
I would not be surprised to see Desmond in the Walt Flashbacks, I mean, what happened to his mother? All we know is her new husband shows up at Michael's, says the mother died suddenly (of some blood diesease was it?). If Port's theory of Desmond or whoever maniuplating this is valid, perhaps she was killed so that Michael would have to go to AussieLand and bring him back to the US, leading to Flight 815.
I mean, the kid MAKES FUCKING BIRDS DROP OUT OF THE SKY. He's Teh Evil.
And Sawyer rules, dude. Rules.
Here's some composite of the Hatch that a dude on lostanswers made:
Can we agree there is something not right about Ethan? Sure, he put down Teh Junkie, which wouldn't be tough, but he also put the serious beat down on Jack with little effort and, carried Claire and Teh Junky (before Treeing Teh Junky in no time at all).Originally Posted by soundwave
He seemed way past unusually strong.
I also think Locke knows a lot more than he says, the raining thing, etc.

Yeah I thought that too but he was taken down easily by Jack--maybe because Jack was prepared then or that he didn't have his super steroid shot?Originally Posted by Josh

A Dead Man's switch seems up there. Like Desmond has to input it daily to prevent something (end of experiment) and if it's executed at any other time (when Jack is about to and Locke says "I wouldn't do that" it goes off. Maybe he's little more than a minder of an experiment on those that are Lost
It's been theorized that the dinosaur type monster was put into place before the show got popular, where relying on dinosaurs would make the show 'cheesy' and weaker. It's possible the 'black cloud' could take that form, or it could split into two halves (seemingly not solid). I dunno. My mind is in the 'One monster, many forms' camp.Originally Posted by MVS
I think Ethan wanted Claire's baby because he thought that child was what Walt ended up being. I also don't think the Others knew Walt was the one - they just saw a child and knew they should take him. As far as his strength, it would imply an injection, but he could be an Other, because all Others may be the same way.
I saw the twins thing. I don't think it's really twins if that's the case, but the future versions of the main group.
The now shitactular TVtome.com (now TV.com) says ep2 will have Michael flashbacks, so I think your answer will be proven subtlety in 2 days. Desmond, in the flashback, may realize Walt is the real deal and accelerate the process by using the reverse of what was possibly used on Jack's fiance.
I've also read theory that Locke went down the hatch when the light came on after Boone died. I don't think so though.
And finally, that map is a true sign of too much free time on your hands.
And I totally buy the dead man's switch thing. Completely fits perfectly.
