Thread: Worst. Purchase. Ever.

  1. Games I bought because of unanimous praise:

    Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance (GBA)
Tactics Ogre Knight of Lodis (GBA)

I loathe both of them. And to make sure, I played both to completion and found even more to despise. I do not think that GBA games are inherently bad, but I do believe that people who review them are freakin morons.

Well, I dug Ridge Racer 5 and TTT, but it was lean times for a long time and nowhere near worth the price I paid.

Fantavision would have been cool if it was preloaded on the PS2, as sort of a Vib-Ribbion-esque thing to do when a game was loading. Otherwise, it's crap.

Fantavision is a good game, just not launch-title-with-nothing-else-to-play good. Granted, I did make fun of it back when the PS2 launched, but that was mostly from being annoyed at people calling the PS2 the greatest thing ever at the time when Fantavision was one of their best games for the longest time.

  4. Fantazision gets a bad rap. Yeah, you an win by just randomly moving the stick and hitting the detonate button, but to be good at it takes much more.

  5. My worst purchase ever might have been buying the Sega Menacer on day 1.

  6. MarkRyan thinks The Getaway is better than GTA3? LOL. Ill say it again: IGN hired him to write about videogames.

Also, three bad purchases stand out for me. Stretch Panic (easily one of the worst games ever made) for $50 and Metal Slug 3 AES. I didnt even have a Neo-Geo, but I "was hoping to get one". I never did. It sat in my room for almost 3 and a half years, but I finally sold it a couple weeks ago. There's also the GBA, I spent way too much money on that piece of garbage and sadly realized my folly soon after, when I was stuck with an ugly system with a screen so dark I couldnt see, a cramped button layout designed for 9-year old Japanese children that made my hands hurt. And the games were really, really expensive and mostly shit.

A high tolerance for boredom, perhaps?

Yes sir, I'm already aware that you know nothing. You don't have to prove to me even more.

(P.S. If the turn signals weren't enough to get you through Getaway, then I'm afraid you were quite terrible at the game. I don't usually fall back on the "you didn't like it because you suck" excuse, but this time it's pretty blatant.)

I just started GTA3 on the Xbox this weekend (100% on PS2, just never tried the Xbox rev out) and I was hooked all over again. The old city's layout came back almost instantly, and I started getting the nearby jumps and kill frenzies done. It took my ambulance flipping over during level 11 of the ambulance mission to get me to stop playing last night at 2am. That was pretty soul-crushing =(

Really, MR, I don't see the hate at all.
